People send me messages all the time asking about what there is to do on the Island for kids. Well, the number one attraction is the beach. That's what people come here for. But.....
If it gets too hot out there for you, there's this amazing place at the UT Marine Science Institute called the Patton Center. It's on the way to the beach, so if you take Cotter (that's the street off the ferry when you first drive onto the Island), and driving towards the beach. Take a left when you see the entrance to UT Marine Science Institute and there it is before you.

Walls of aquariums with local fish and jellyfish, manned by knowledgeable staff that can tell you all about the marine sea life.
There's no charge but you might wish to donate.
Go. Take the kids. Cool off while you're there and learn something new.
