THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION IS REDUCING THE SPEED LIMIT ON STATE HIGHWAY 361 FROM 60 MPH TO 50 MPH BETWEEN PARK ROAD 22 AND A POINT JUST SOUTH OF BEACH ACCESS ROAD 1A FOLLOWING RECENT FATAL CRASHES.

• New Limit: 50 mph (down from 60 mph)

• Effective Date: Tuesday, August 25, 2026

• Location: Between Park Road 22 and just south of Beach Access Road 1A

• Warnings: Electronic message boards are active along the corridor to notify drivers.

Additional Safety Measures

• Increased Patrols: Law enforcement presence and DPS patrols have been stepped up.

• Public Input: TxDOT is accepting safety suggestions at [email protected] ahead of a planned September town hall.

• Real-Time Monitoring: Portable camera signs have been deployed and can be viewed via DriveTexas.
