As of today, I am going to open the campground. Although campgrounds and RV Parks are still on the "closed businesses" and the Stay at Home order has been extended until May 29 it appears that we can make exceptions for campers who have already set up for this season. They may not bring guests, the camper is to be used for their family only, and social distancing must be enforced. Please note we will not be opening the laundry facilities this year, and we do not yet have wifi set up for your use.. The following is the Health Department clarification of the state order: "Due to the Ohio Department of Health Director’s Stay Safe Ohio Order that was signed on April 30, 2020, campgrounds must remain closed until May 29, 2020. However, there are two exceptions to this required closure which are:
· People living in Recreational Vehicles (RVs) at campgrounds who genuinely have no other viable place of residence may remain in the campground;
· Cabins, mobile homes, or other self-contained units, meant for single families and where preexisting full season agreements already have been established.
(An example would be individuals who have part-time pre-established seasonal sites at campgrounds for the entire season or a long term property interest or lease agreement with a campground for residential activity).
If campgrounds determine that they can open based on the exceptions in this Order, they must comply with the social distancing requirements and other requirements as indicated below:
Maintain a Social distancing of at least 6ft between other individuals not in the same family; Gatherings of more than 10 people are strictly prohibited; Common areas such as the pool, club houses, playgrounds, shelter houses and enclosed recreational areas must remain closed; Restrooms and laundering facilities may remain open if necessary, but 6ft of distance must be maintained between people when possible; High touch areas such as counters, door handles, and hand rails must be disinfected frequently; Hand sanitizer and handwashing must be available.
Campgrounds that open under this Order must provide written justification, upon request, explaining why they meet the exceptions as indicated above and detailed safe guards that will be implemented to protect employees and residents of the campground. This document will be important should the Ottawa County Health Department receive complaints and need to investigate the operation.
Campground owners/ operators are responsible for adhering to these guidelines and the enforcement of safeguards. If a resident is not following guidance set forth by the campground, they can be asked to leave. "
