Late-summer tomatoes are at their brief, glorious peak, and this Wednesday's Farm Supper is built around them.

We start with marinated tomatoes — mozzarella di bufala, house pickles, a chive oil from Red Dog Farm in Chimacum, and a port balsamic gastrique. Then coho à la nage: coho salmon poached with farm carrots, fennel, and leeks, Penn Cove mussels, and a white wine–anise broth. Chef Kyle sends things off with cheesecake over an Oreo crust, SpringRain Farm silvan berry pearls, and fresh mint.

September is across Washington — the annual initiative from Eat Local First — and this table is our small way of honoring it: the farms, the fisheries, and the people who grow and catch what ends up on your plate.

Join us Wednesday evening at The Fireside.

This September, we're pouring our way across France.

A flinty, unoaked Chablis from the small Bachelier estate in Maligny. Janodet's Moulin-à-Vent, deep and structured, among the most age-worthy of the Beaujolais crus. The sun-warmed garrigue of Château Sainte-Eulalie's "Plaisir d'Eulalie" in the Minervois. A classic Merlot-and-Cabernet Bordeaux Supérieur from Clos Renon. And to close, Château Armandière's Malbec, drawn from old vines in Cahors — the grape's ancestral home.

Still humming the tunes from last night. 🎶 Thank you, Budapest West, for the music — and thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy it with us. What a way to spend an evening on the bay.

Highway 104, west of the Hood Canal Bridge, is open again. Our deep thanks to the firefighters and first responders who worked through yesterday's brush fires to keep the community safe and reopen the road.

If you're headed our way in the coming days, access is restored — Crews are still be in the area, so please drive with care as you travel through.

Crews continued working to extinguish hot spots overnight at the Horseshoe Fire on Highway 104, west of Hood Canal Bridge and forward progress of the fire has stopped.

The fire has burned 20 acres and remains 25% contained. Work will continue over the next few days, including resources and personnel from EJFR, DNR, and multiple partner agencies.

Highway 104 is now open in both directions, but drivers are encouraged to be cautious because crews and apparatus are still active in the area.

A lot of smoke remains in air and will likely remain for some time. There is no need to call 911 to report smoke in that area.

Wednesday's Farm Supper, straight from the fields around us: a Red Dog Farm red romaine Caesar, house-made fettuccine with wild white shrimp and Soft Step Farm shish*tos, and a summer berry crisp over SpringRain Farm blueberries, raspberries, and silvan berries.

Seasonal, local, and made to be savored slowly.

Moss, cedar, the sound of the falls—and now, a new mural to slow you down a little more. The local artists of the Port Ludlow Art League have added their touch to the Ludlow Falls Interpretive Trail. All that's left is the walk.

Aprons on, sleeves up, a little friendly rivalry in the air.

Our team-building cooking challenge turns a retreat into something you'll actually talk about on the drive home.
Teams started the challenge by decorating shirts to wear—then face the mystery ingredient, a basket of the unexpected that turns colleagues into collaborators. What comes out of it is part meal, part memory.

A retreat here is time to slow down and connect. Sometimes it means figuring out what to do with a surprise ingredient, together.

Planning a team gathering? We'd love to host you.

Last week the Fireside team pulled off a rare kind of day: a tournament dinner at the Port Ludlow Golf Course, a BBQ for the PLYC's Twilight Sailing Series at the Port Ludlow Marina, and ended the evening by welcoming Tim Lenihan of Dossier Wine Collective, one of Washington's rising luxury wineries.

Three locations, countless plates, and a crew who made it all look effortless.

We spent an afternoon celebrating the people behind the scenes — coworkers from the marina, golf course, WestHarbor Homes, and Olympic Water & Sewer, all together.

Good food, good company, and a lot of gratitude. A little peek at our company picnic.
