Here’s some things to do in October! Also be sure to stop by Scallop Cove on the Cape- they have grocery items, lunch items, amazing gifts/souvenirs, craft beer and wine slushies, bait and tackle shop, boat rentals, firewood, and awesome owners!

Weather: Averages 81 high, 61 low
Water Temp: Average 77
Fishing: In October, while you’re working out you Halloween costume ideas, you can get to work on flounder. They will be migrating into the bay and can be caught on the bottom with live bait and white plastics are a personal favorite. Surf fishing can still be great for whiting and Pompano using frozen baits or Fishbites. A spoon or plug may be successful for Spanish macks that are in the shallows feeding.

Scallop Cove Bait and Tackle has you covered for your scallop adventures!

What do I need to have to go Scalloping?
Here are a few key items you will need to get before you go scalloping.
Mask, Snorkel and Fins- You have to see them, to catch them.
Dive Flag - Safety first, let others know you are swimming in the water.
Mesh Bag - Where else are you going to put your scallops?
Florida Fishing License - It's the law.
Sun Screen - Protect your skin.
Boat - Makes it easier to get to the 4-8 feet of water where scallops are typically found.
Ice - Scallops are sensitive. Put them on ice once out of water.
Knife or spoon - You need a utensil to clean scallops..
Food and Drinks - Keep yourself hydrated and energized.
Good news! Scallop Cove sells all these items above! If you don't want to buy gear, Scallop Cove Too in St Joseph State Park rents out equipment and pontoon boats.
