The High Season has arrived in the Chequamegon Bay! Here's to a successful opening weekend and summer season for the area's artistic and cultural spaces, galleries, museums, and organizations; for the artists, musicians, and makers starting the summer fair and festival circuit; and for all Washburn businesses affected by a lean winter and the ongoing highway construction/reroute.

The WCC Art Galleries will be in exhibition transition this weekend and all of next week, but in the coming days: come in and create during one of the regularly scheduled art-making sessions on the third floor; participate in the return of the PLEIN AIR OF WASHBURN FESTIVAL (PAW FEST); and celebrate the opening of our next exhibition, the 2024 cycle of VARIATIONS: FIBER ART.

As you're out and about this weekend, the HEDGEHOG TREASURE SHOP, located in the former WCC Antique Shop space, will be open Saturday–Monday. And don't miss the Bayfield Peninsula Potters' WASHBURN POTTERY FESTIVAL next door in Legion Park, Saturday 10am–5pm; or SOUND CHEQ MUSIC FEST, organized by The Stagenorth Groundlings, taking place at five venues across the city throughout the weekend.

We had an unprecedented amount of snow this winter, which prevented us from working on our vintage Airstream remodel. As we were anxiously waiting for the snow to melt, our carport collapsed due to the weight of the snow + ice. We don’t know yet if the Airstream is salvageable, but we definitely won’t be able to start renting it out this summer. We’re so bummed, but we’ll figure out a new game plan soon.

Maybe a dome or a yurt next? What type of ecofriendly option would you like to see us build?
