Little House on the Big Lake

Today we said goodbye to our Little House on the Big Lake. It was a bittersweet day with sadness and joy. Sad that the cabin is no longer ours and our dreams for this place are ending, but joy in the memories and joy in the fact that a really nice family is taking the reins and sharing this special place with their grandchildren.
To all of our guests who enjoyed the cabin over these past few years and those who hoped to enjoy it this summer, we are sorry that the Little House on the Big Lake won’t be available to enjoy anymore, but we hope you have gained an appreciation for the South Shore and all of the magic here and find new ways to enjoy all that Lake Superior has to offer.

The gales of October are here! This lake freighter, or "laker," is seeking shelter from the northeast gales between Madeline Island and the mainland. Waves on the lake are predicted to be 15-20 feet, and occasionally to 25 feet, this afternoon.
