First Friday Art Walk Alert! 🎨 Join us this Friday (Feb 6th) from 5–8pm to celebrate the debut of Hannah Hirsch, our new artist in residence.

Hannah’s bold, hand-cut paintings are rich with color, character, and movement, drawing from memory, emotion, and the natural forms of her Maine upbringing. Influenced by cartoons of the ’90s and her own personal journey, her work invites you to reflect on what we carry through life, and what we choose to let go.

Stop by, grab a drink, and see her striking pieces for yourself!

We pride ourselves on creating a safe and welcoming space within the beautiful city of Portland, a place defined by community, character, and care. We are proud to support Maine’s immigrant communities, and we stand with our friends and neighbors who have been impacted by ICE.

While we are logistically unable to close our doors completely tomorrow, we will be donating 100% of Friday’s profits to local organizations providing mutual aid and support to those most impacted by ICE operations in Maine 🤍

We are here for our team, our guests, and our community, today and every day.

🕰️ We’re savoring the final days of Clock-tober! All month long, we’ve been celebrating the Seth Thomas clock that proudly stands outside our hotel. Want to know more about its story? Check out this Evening Express article from 1925, shared with us by , marking the clock’s original installation.

Article: In celebration of the completion of their 25th year in business partnership Walter G. Hay & B. C. Peabody of Hay & Peabody have installed on their property at 749 Congress street a bronze clock which will prove of immense convenience to residents and passers-by in that section.

The clock is the the largest and finest of its type which the City of Portland boasts. Originally it was designed for a sidewalk clock, but the City fathers reused permission for its er****on on the sidewalk, fearful of establishing a precedent that would lead to many similar requests. Accordingly Hay & Peabody decided to erect the clock on their own property, and it has been placed just inside the gate adjacent to the sidewalk and easily visible throughout that section.

The clock is 18 feet in height from the base of its bronze pedestal to the ornament that tops the dial. It has four three-foot dials, which are at this time of year illuminated from 4.30 in the afternoon to 6 o'clock in the morning. It was manufactured by the Seth Thomas Clock Co., is electrically would and controlled and automatically lighted, and not only is a handsome addition to the Hay & Peabody property but will also prove a great convenience to thousands of Portland people, particularly in view of the fact that the figures on the dial are large and can be seen from an appreciable distance.
