What a busy six weeks in Portland Oregon! It's now August 26, 2026 and today we're feeling jetlagged in Madrid!
My apologies everyone! I'm just now sharing our latest hotel review after our fabulous 31 nights at Oceanfront Condos Nilaveli in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka from May 15 to June 15th! This property is definitely one of our favorite beach locations with such an amazing and friendly staff! We've stayed here three times now and we honestly love these guys! Thank you for your kindness and hard work! We see you and we appreciate you! 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽

Our roadtrip back to Negombo, Sri Lanka is always interesting! We spent our final two nights at Gomez place doing some last minute shopping, dining and relaxing before our flight back to Bali! Thank you Ayesh for taking excellent care of us AGAIN!!

Our favorite Sri Lankan oceanfront condo stay was at Oceanfront Condominiums on Nilaveli Beach, Trincomalee.
The third time was a charm! Snap! This visit was very special because we shared it with Miles and Ayesh!

We just had to take Miles to a Sri Lankan spice garden and this is the place that our guide Ayesh recommended. We learned just how many plants are used to create natural Ayurvedic treatments. What a surprise! We had amazing massages from men who were currently enrolled in a local Ayruvedic school program! We walked away feeling very happy!

This UNESCO World Heritage Site designated in 1982 is located in the North Central Province in the Ancient City of Polonnauruwa. It became the island's second capital after the destruction of Anurandhapura in 993 CE.
In the 12th century, King Parakramabahu transformed the city into a monumental garden-complex protected by massive fortifications with an expansive reservoir and irrigation marvel that continues to supply water to the region today!The seven story 1000 room Royal Palace citadel was also created by the King which was an artictectural wonder back in the 12th century!

Hey! The Hotel Guys actually stayed in a hotel again!
Rich found the Agbo Hotel near Polonnaruwa on Booking.com and everyone was pleased with their rooms! This was just a one nighter but we really liked the place! Large rooms, great views, friendly staff and lots of food options! It was a great location for all of the activites Ayesh had scheduled for us! Check out the grand stairway to our rooms! A wedding was held earlier so picture that!!

So this was an unplanned visit to the optomitrist for new glasses! Travel tip! Do not leave your sunglasses inside a hot car! I needed to replace them in Kandy but learned that after testing, my vision had improved! I ordered two but decided to get a spare backup pair from the great staff in the Trincomalee store! So I ended up with three new pairs of trifocals at a fraction of what it would have cost me back home in Portland, Oregon! I can actually see things in the distance again!!This is a fabulous life!
