Honoring the memory of King Harald V of Norway, who reigned for 35 years. The Royal House of Norway announced his passing on Friday morning. Harald was Norway's first king born in Norway since the 14th Century. On taking the throne, Harald, like his father and grandfather before him, adopted the motto: “We give our all for Norway.”

King Charles III sent his "most heartfelt condolences" at the death of his "dear cousin" - who was a second cousin to Queen Elizabeth II - while King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden remembered "a good friend to me, my family and to Sweden", wishing his godson Haakon "success and good fortune."

Celebrating 50 Years of “Dancing Queen”
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of “Dancing Queen” — a timeless ABBA masterpiece that has the extraordinary power to lift spirits, bring people together, and get an entire crowd on its feet. Few songs capture the pure joy, energy, and optimism of music quite like this one. Fifty years later, it remains a true one-of-a-kind anthem — proof that great music doesn’t simply entertain us; it inspires us, connects us, and makes us want to dance through life.

We gathered once more at Karin Weeden's house for an amazing Sewing Circle session! There was plenty of cutting with gorgeous Swedish fabrics, and everyone enjoyed diving into the steps of making aprons and potholders.
We made fantastic progress and can’t wait to pick up where we left off next time! Plus, we had fun catching up over lunch and fika.

Pennsylvania District No. 9 Vasa Members from Erie, Cleveland, and Washington, DC participated in joint camping trip this July. Camping (some glamping) at Ohiopyle State Park in Pennsylvania, members enjoyed campfires, meals, smores, sing-alongs and an excursion to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater.

The Grand Lodge convention in Chicago, Illinois included a week of important Vasa business that impacts our local and district lodges, but at the core, focused on strengthening and preserving the impact of our organization. We spent quality time with dear friends and made many new friendships as well, enjoyed an amazing gala with SmorgasBandet, the inaugural Vasa Cultural Fest (with an array of programs for all ages), and Swedish Hot Dogs with the ABBA tribute band. Dancing, singing, Swedish schnapps, aquavit, toasts, and raffles winners were in abundance!

All of our best to the new Grand Master and the Grand Lodge Officers for a successful and impactful term ahead.

We’d love to hear about your travel experiences and any new tips for a great vacation. Plus, we’ll talk about how to connect with family living in Sweden.
If we have some time after our fika break, we’ll also make some lovely greeting cards to restock our supply for sending to members.

The Embassy of Sweden invited Members of Drott Lodge to help celebrate Midsommar on the National Mall - and help decorate the Maypole this year! We met Ambassador Urban Ahlin his wife, danced, sang, experienced some rain showers, and then the most beautiful summer skies and double rainbow.
