Piedmont 8 Hour

We are excited to be heading into year 4 of the Piedmont 8 Hour. This year, the race moves into October (October 27th) and adds a 2 person relay event. Registration is still dirt cheap at $45 per runner or $90 per team. Registration is now open! The event is held at Powhatan State Park. The campground will be open so bring the whole family!

I added a lot of information to the Dogwood 12 Hour Page. I put in pictures of the course as well as a profile. The 3.5 mile loop features 250 feet of elevation gain broken up into a number of climbs. It also features numerous water views and some fast runnable downhills. This pretty course offers something for every runner, novice and veterans alike. There is also a 10 mile and relay option available. Head on over and take a look.

Looking for a good winter training run? After intense negotiations (well actually there were no negotiations), we are excited to announce that we will be directing the annual Willis River 50k and 35k. This race used to be put on by the Richmond Road Runners club.

In keeping with past Willis River runs this one will be done in FA fashion. That means no entry fee, no t-shirts, awards or prizes. Just an opportunity to come out and freeze while getting some training miles. The race will be held at Bear Creek Lake State Park on Sunday January 21st beginning at 8am. Participants can run either the 50k or 35k depending on how they feel. I will provide water and a portajohn. Runners are asked to bring an item to share at aid stations, $10-15 dollars to cover park entry fee (and donations to cover the portajohn) and be prepared to have fun!

There will be stream crossings, wet feet and cold temps! See you there! Message me with questions.

Welcome to the Fourth Annual Dogwood 12 Hour Run! The race will be held on Saturday March 31st, 2018 at Twin Lakes State Park. The race is named in honor of Virginia’s state tree, the flowering dogwood.

One of the things that we try and do here at Virginia Adventures is find new places to run. With that being said, we are excited to announce our newest race, the Thoroughbred Races! This race will take place on May 5th, 2018. The race will offer a 50k and 30k version.
The race takes place on the To***co Heritage Trail, an old rail trail in South Hill Virginia. The race is named in honor of the Norfolk Southern Railroad which was nicknamed, The Thoroughbred. Participants will get a view of rolling hills and Americana that few other races can offer. Prices are only $50 for the 50k and $30 for the 30k. This will be the first Ultra to happen in the area so it's your chance to take part in history!
