Buckey O'Neill: The legendary Prescott resident, mayor, and Yavapai County sheriff recruited Troop A from Arizona frontiersmen and died heroically at San Juan Hill.

Prescott, Arizona, holds a deeply rooted historical connection to Theodore Roosevelt and his famous Rough Riders cavalry from the Spanish-American War.

Rough Rider Monument: Unveiled on July 3, 1907, at the Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza, this world-class bronze sculpture honors Buckey O'Neill and the Arizona Rough Riders. Roosevelt himself contributed financially to its creation, though he was unable to attend the unveiling ceremony.
