Dear Friends of Whispering Pines Camp,

My nephew, Adam Harper (actor, writer, director, filmmaker, comedian, and Whispering Pines Camper), has made a short (3 1/2 minute) film based on his experience at WP with an old campfire song, "There's a Hole in My Bucket".

This short film Adam made, "Dear Liza", has completed its run at Film Festivals (won a few awards along the way) and is now up on YouTube.

If you would, watch the film on YouTube, and leave a COMMENT. Comments greatly inform the algorithm and help other people find the film as well... Liking the video is also encouraged :)

DEAR LIZA | A Wholesome Short Romantic Comedy

Additionally, if you have a friend or family member who might enjoy it, sharing directly through email would help get Adam's film noticed and seen.

Hope you like the movie and it brings back happy memories of your camp life whether it was at Whispering Pines or another favorite campground. Enjoy!

Kevin

Bright, warm, funny, optimistic and nostalgic. I wanted DEAR LIZA to be a positive and hopeful piece of pop-art about two people who love each other.DEAR LIZ...

Happy New Year! Here’s a fun and exciting family event planned for the end of this month at Whispering Pines. Hot off the press (see attached). Board gaming has come a long way in the last decade or two. Here's an opportunity to come together as a community to share in food, fun, and fellowship. If you are new to board gaming, come prepared to learn why there has been a resurgence of sorts in board game popularity. Games like Ticket to Ride, Carcassone, Pandemic, Splendor, etc contribute to this popularity. Cooperative games are my favorite! What is your favorite? Cards? Dice? Something else?

Bring your favorite games to share, teach and play, come to learn a new game, piece together a puzzle or just observe others enjoying the joys of board gaming and related activities.

This is a "donation encouraged" event. It does cost money to open up the campground for every event held there. Your RSVP (link below) is required.

We will not only be coming together to share in games of all kinds, but also in food. Bring snacks to share and a side dish or your favorite soup for a soup pot luck. If you decide to stay the night, please bring your own breakfast. Lunches will also be on your own. Refrigeration, grills, stovetops, ovens, and microwaves are available for your use. Sharing is encouraged!

Don't hesitate to invite friends to attend this unique event celebrating a warm gathering place (FINALLY!) at WP. It has been at least the winter of 2020 since there's been a cold weather event at Whispering Pines.

If you can't participate in person, please consider a monetary donation directly to WP, so WP can continue to offer these wonderful family events and celebrate the Blessings of Community.

Sincerely,
Whispering Pines Board

Dear Friends of Whispering Pines,

Big News! Whispering Pines has passed all of our inspections and the Dining Hall is ready for business after almost 4 years of it being off limits. Yes, 4 years! Hard to believe our fire was in July of 2021. We received the news last week that we passed our final inspection with Yavapai County and received our Certificate of Occupancy (FINALLY). Just in time for our first camps to use our new facility. We have back to back camps starting on May 16th and they are super excited to have a fully functional kitchen. The Whispering Pines Crew has been hard at work transporting, cleaning, sanitizing, sorting, taking inventory and organizing our kitchen equipment that has been in storage. We have also been busy ordering new equipment, tracking down lost deliveries, breaking down boxes, counting silverware, utensils, cups, chairs and tables, - assembling brand new bunks, breaking in brand new appliances, delivering all kinds of equipment and supplies to/from Whispering Pines for proper placement and installation, donations to Goodwill and even repairs on some items in Phoenix! We hope you are able to see the new facility and our other campground improvements in the coming months. If it's not a planned event at Whispering Pines, just let us know so we can prepare for your visit. Despite having our Certificate of Occupancy, there are a few items that still need to be addressed, but at least we can still host camps while these items are being completed. We can't wait to see you at Whispering Pines and thank you for your patience as we get things in place and ready for you. We also have NEW Merchandise. Yes! New Merch! We have WP tumblers, t-shirts and hoodies for sale at the campground. I love mine!

Thank you to all who donated in one way or another to Whispering Pines Camp in 2024. Please know that we would not be able to maintain, let alone improve our campground without your generous donations of time, talent, money, expertise, etc. We can't thank you enough. Please see the attached list of ways you can contribute to Whispering Pines in 2025!!!!

Sincerely,
The Whispering Pines Board of Directors

New map of Whispering Pines!

Dear Friends of Whispering Pines,

We have begun a new era at Whispering Pines Camp. Caitlyn and Noah and their children were greeted on March 8th, with 6 inches of snow!!!! This certainly didn't dampen their excitement of their move in (as you can imagine 4 desert kids moving to the snow). Caitlyn and Noah are now serving as Whispering Pines caretakers. We haven't had this role filled since 2021 when we experienced our devastating fire. We are so excited for Caitlyn, Noah and the family as they adjust and get settled into their new mountain home.

We want to thank Suzy Williams Bradley for the 3 years of living at the campground and providing eyes and ears on WP during this time. We are grateful to her years of service and wish her well in her new endeavors.

Michael and Sevannah are still on site and will provide volunteer support to Caitlyn and Noah as we all work together to host, maintain, and improve the campground.

Also entering a new era is the new Dining Hall/Kitchen aka Multi Purpose Building. The final walkthrough is scheduled for next Tuesday (April 8th). It is at this time when we will learn if we "passed" inspection and are granted our Certificate of Occupancy. If that is the case, we will officially have our building back after 3.5 long years and will be able to use it during our Eggapalooza celebration on April 12th.

Speaking of Eggapalooza, if you haven't already RSVPd through the following link, please do so, so we can have an idea of how many people to prepare for. Be ready for an egg hunt, egg dying, carnival games and other Easter surprises. We will also be placing a new cross at Inspiration Point. Did you know a Whispering Pines tradition is to use wood, logs, and branches, etc located on the property for the cross? We plan to continue that tradition and incorporate the help of the folks at Eggapalooza this year.

Also, April 12th is the date of the "Pink Moon". It is a full moon and this particular full moon is used every year to set the date of Easter Sunday. Easter Sunday is always the first Sunday after the first full moon following the first day of spring. Interesting, huh?
