Hummingbird Frenzy! They came out in mass after the morning rain. This is one of our 9 feeders that we fill daily (1-2 gallons of juice per day). We also have acres of native wildflower fields to help support them and a new 2025 planting in our yard.

My propagation beds are full of planted pots for the Art in The Park festival. (Lanesboro on Saturday June 20). They add such a fun look to my garden, I'll miss them when they are gone. I will definitely be keeping some of the Mojito Mint. It smells so amazing!!! Keeping fingers crossed they all don't get destroyed in the storms later today. 🤞

We finally got the rain yesterday that our farm has been begging for! I was able to get the first pass of tilling done in the garden before the rain, but it will need to sit now until the rain soaks into the deeper soil before I can get back to removing the quack grass roots, doing a second tilling, fertilizing and finally planting the asters. My job now is to keep the 60 asters alive until I can get all that done. It would have been handy to have had all that done prior to their arrival but what's the challenge in that 🤣

I have a lot of really great ideas! It's the time required to bring these ideas to fruition that seems to be lacking. 🤣 Remember my plan about a month ago to sell native asters instead of mums in the fall? My 60 aster plants have arrived and now I need to get them in the ground. 🫣 These will need to mature over the next year and should be ready to sell next fall. I need to keep them in a safe place so I am getting the unused guest house garden prepped for them. I w**d whipped the mostly quack grass several days ago, let that dry down and burned the area last night. Today (if we can revive the garden tiller after it's 2 years in the shed) I am going to till the soil and remove the quack grass roots. The llamas and sheep provided the composted nutrients that I will add to the soil. I'm hoping the pair of bluebirds that are building their nest in the green watering can will appreciate the process and keep their home!

Are you a fan of super sour? I will have these freeze dried rhubarb snacks for sale this weekend at the Rochester Farmers Markets ! Believe me, they are intense! Flavored with a bit of strawberry Jell-O but I wouldn't call them sweetened 😁
