MEET THE OWNERS SPOTLIGHT✨
Introducing Karissa, our leading lady.
Karissa has always been more than a dreamer. She’s a doer, living fully by the motto, ‘Where there’s a will, there’s a way.’
Starting with flipping a few homes in her early 20’s, with one particularly ambitious plan involving building a 3,200-square-foot home without a general contractor, on 20 acres, in rural Nevada, WHILE living in campers with three little kids and another on the way. Somehow, they survived! 😂

Once the babies got a little bigger, Karissa returned to college, earning her bachelor’s in Mental Health Studies.

Fast-forward to 2026. Halfway through graduate school, and settling into life back home in Oregon, an opportunity came along that was just a little too big, a little too crazy, and a little too perfect to pass up. 🤩
The Hudspeth Estate.

If Travis is the hands that keep The Butte House running, Karissa is the vision that keeps it growing.

They’re learning as they go, grateful to be back home in Oregon, and excited to preserve a little piece of Prineville’s history for generations to come.

And if you see Karissa running across the property looking slightly frazzled, don’t worry. That’s just her natural habitat.🤪

Coming right into our community. These townhomes are being built directly across the street from The Butte House. Here is the link to share your feedback!

Our first community in Prineville is in the planning stage, and we want to build it around what the community in Prineville needs. Take the short housing survey (link in bio) and help shape the plan.

And please share the survey with your networks, community members, and clients who may be interested in becoming homeowners now or in the future. We hope to hear from people with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, as their input will help us better understand the community's different housing needs.

We have some exciting news! 🌲 Pine Hollow is officially open for guests!
We’ve received a few calls asking if we had any availability this weekend—and now we do! Pine Hollow, our private 1-bedroom guesthouse at The Butte House, is officially available to book and, for now, is being offered exclusively through Airbnb.
If you’ve been thinking about staying with us for a weekend, we recommend booking as soon as you know your dates. Our weekends tend to fill up quickly!
We’re so excited to finally welcome guests into this little piece of the estate.
Shoutout to Third Street Floor Coverings for binding this classic, timeless carpet into the perfect massive area rug for this space! We love how it turned out!

The Butte House can be a little tricky to find—and even trickier in the dark! 😂 Thankfully, our sign guy, Stan Hartung with Juni-Art, made us some amazing new signs to help our guests find their way. We LOVE how they turned out!

🔨 BUTTE HOUSE SPOTLIGHT: Meet Travis

Travis has been working in the trades since graduating from Estacada High School. After serving a two-year mission, he came home, met his wife TWO DAYS later playing volleyball, and convinced her to marry him six months after that. 😂

From there, life moved fast. He worked for a power company, a decking company, electrical apprenticeship, and eventually moved his growing family to Nevada, where he became the senior facility maintenance technician at a critical access hospital.

Somewhere along the way, we bought 20 acres of dirt-cheap Nevada land, moved our family into RVs, welcomed baby #4, and Travis built our 3,200-square-foot home basically from the ground up. What started as barren dirt eventually became our own little oasis.

He later specialized in commercial HVAC before we decided it was time to come home to Oregon. He continued his HVAC career here, we bought the cookie-cutter house, and quickly realized that life wasn’t for us.

So Travis did what Travis does—kept working.

He put his wife through undergrad and now grad school, all while balancing a demanding career and life as a very busy dad of four. And apparently that wasn’t enough going on, because now we can add entrepreneur and historic-property-restoration-everything-guy to the list. 😂

Then came our biggest adventure yet: purchasing the Hudspeth Estate and bringing The Butte House back to life.

Travis is truly The Butte House’s main man. Electrical? Travis. Plumbing? Travis. HVAC? Travis. Irrigation? Also Travis. Something ancient starts leaking at 9 p.m.? You guessed it. 😂

This adventure simply wouldn’t be possible without him, and somehow, little by little, he keeps getting it done.

This week’s project: installing the mini splits in the motel rooms so our guests can stay comfortable year-round! Meanwhile, he’s also making sure our own family has the important luxuries—like flushing toilets and at least one reliably working sink. 😂

We still have many things down + leaking, and the project list seems to grow faster than we can cross things off, but we’ve got a solid roof, warm blankets, and we’re getting there.

Up next: finishing the motel mini splits & main home rooms, and finding a new heating stove for the main house.

One project at a time, Trav is getting it done.

✨ COMING SOON: PINE HOLLOW ✨

Another little piece of The Butte House is almost ready to welcome guests!

Meet Pine Hollow, our private apartment tucked into the estate. We’ve been slowly bringing this space back to life while keeping that wonderfully quirky midcentury character that makes this house so special.

Pine Hollow will offer guests a little more room to settle in, with its own living space, kitchenette, bedroom and private entrance — perfect for a longer stay or anyone wanting a bit more of a home-away-from-home experience.

We’re putting on the finishing touches now and hope to have it available for booking very soon. 🤩
One thing we love about this space is the hand stitched Hudspeth chair cushions!

Here’s your first peek… more to come!!

We’ll call this the “before”… although it’s also very much the “right now.” 😆

This chef’s kitchen at The Butte House is MASSIVE. And the more we explore it, the more little secrets we find.

~No less than FIVE refrigerators (all working)
~Two sinks (1/2 functioning)
~Wall sized bread box
~Previously torn out flooring
~A hidden butler’s pantry with imported Italian tile
~6 burner stove (2/6 burners functioning)
~Double oven (not large enough for cookie sheet)
~Original counter tile cracked/missing
~And one very interesting working triangle when you’re a chef of one 😂

Standing in here, I can’t help but imagine what this room must have looked like when the house was in its heyday. This wasn’t designed for one person making Tuesday-night dinner. This was a working kitchen built to move.

There’s SO much we want to preserve about this kitchen… while also figuring out how to make this master-sized space work for our family today.

So, officially documenting it: The Butte House kitchen — BEFORE. 🤎

Now tell me… what would you absolutely KEEP? 👀
