6 Years after taking over the Hotel it has grown a loyal base of guests that have come to see the Refuge, as well as those who have passed through this lovely small town and just needed a nice clean, quiet and comfortable place to stay. Now, with the Pritchett Hotel completely remodeled and accepting the same, these two small town hotels are true assets to the community.

Hello to all of the fans and friends of The Coulter. As Jim & Laura recently posted, they were selling The Coulter due to personal reasons. We wanted to provide you with an update, as our non-profit organization - The Wild Animal Refuge purchased The Coulter this past Thursday. For those of you that may not know, our Wild Animal Refuge is located 16 miles northeast of Pritchett. We also have another facility called The Wild Animal Sanctuary which is located northeast of Denver near the town of Keenesburg. Over the past two years, we've found a continuous need for local lodging - both for our staff, and guests who just need a place to stay overnight. We want to honor all of the hard work and dedication Jim & Laura's put into establishing this Bed & Breakfast by continuing to run it in a similar fashion. So in addition to our occasional use, we will continue to accept guests needing a place to spend the night. We will be looking to employ local people for numerous projects and positions, and want to support Pritchett in as many ways as possible. Feel free to call or email, as we will be glad to speak with anyone interested in what we have to offer. We have already had the pleasure of meeting Oran and Vanessa, (and of course, Rick B) and look forward to meeting many more residents of Pritchett in the coming months.

This historic property, known as The Coulter and located in southeast Colorado, is being offered as a turn-key, fully furnished bed and breakfast, including the business good will, telephone number, page, website, and AirBnB account. The property is zoned residential. From the outside, you....

Wow! The hurricane-force winds took down a fence and part of a tree at The Coulter. Many thanks to our neighbors and support team for helping us get this taken care of quickly. Please excuse our mess in the meantime. Hopefully nobody experienced worse!

Sadly, the Dust Bowl sent the county - and the hotel - into a tailspin, and the hotel deteriorated over the years. In the 1990's, the building was sold, renovated and returned to service for some time before being closed again when the previous owners retired.
