29 years ago, IGO Legacy Hotel Group opened the doors to this beautiful property. Due to significant health challenges, the partners of IGO Legacy Hotel Group, made the difficult decision to sell our entire portfolio. Today, March 19, 2025, we closed on the sale of the AmericInn by Wyndham Duluth South, so we must bid farewell to the wonderful community of Proctor, MN.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Proctor community for your unwavering support over the years. It has been an absolute honor to be a part of this community.

A special thank you goes to our dedicated and loyal hotel employees, whose commitment to hospitality made this hotel a welcoming place for all. We were truly fortunate to work alongside such an incredible team, and we will sincerely miss them.

To our loyal guests, thank you for choosing to stay with us and for allowing us to be part of your Duluth experience. Your patronage and kind words have meant the world to us.

While we say goodbye with heavy hearts, we leave with deep appreciation for this community and the wonderful relationships we have built. We wish Proctor continued success and prosperity.

We would like to take a moment to clarify some information regarding the incident at the hotel being reported in local media. This past Wednesday, November 29, emergency response to the property was requested due to the presence of chlorine gas in the hotel. This was NOT a gas leak. Rather, a combination of laundry products inadvertently mixed, and the chemical reaction resulted in the production of chlorine gas. This was limited to the laundry room and lobby, and the entire hotel was evacuated as a safety precaution.

All staff and guests were evacuated without incident. There was no report of injury, and no medical treatment was administered at the scene.

In addition, the Minnesota Department of Health conducted a follow up interview with the General Manager, and determined that no further investigation is necessary at this time.

We are grateful to the Proctor Fire Department, Proctor Police Department, Duluth Minnesota Fire Department, as well as DFD’s Hazardous Materials Response Team, for their collaboration. While chlorine gas readings in the hotel were never high enough to be considered unsafe, the emergency response insured that all staff and guests were safe, and that action was taken quickly to mitigate the safety and health risk to all involved.

Yesterday, we took a moment to formally celebrate the completed renovations to our hidden gem in Proctor, MN. We were thrilled to see so many familiar (and new) faces from the Hermantown Area Chamber of Commerce, Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce, Proctor Chamber of Commerce, and Proctor Journal, as well as several of our business and advertising partners. Lunch provided by Black Woods Group Catering was delicious, and Eileen's Colossal Cookies were the icing on the cake.
