Have you heard? Amazon has purchased property in Punta Gorda.
Here is what we know -
The property is near Jones Loop.
As of right now, there are still no public site plans, permits, rezoning requests, or hearing dates tied directly to the Amazon property.
Amazon still has not publicly announced what they plan to build, and county officials have stated they are not sharing details yet.
What is confirmed is that the property sits in an area identified for logistics and transportation activity near the airport.
There are also confirmed transportation and infrastructure plans in the same corridor, including studies and planning related to increased traffic flow around Jones Loop Road, Piper Road, I-75, and the airport area.
A formal study was also completed looking at the possibility of widening portions of Jones Loop Road in the future to handle expected growth and increased traffic. No active widening project has been publicly announced yet.
