While walking along the Lily Pond, you might spot one of our favorite early spring blooms: the Trout Lily!
Named for the mottled, trout-like pattern on its leaves, this delicate yellow flower only blooms for a short window each spring before disappearing until next year.
🌱 A single Trout Lily plant can take up to 7 years before it flowers for the first time. These plants thrive in rich, undisturbed woodlands and are an important early nectar source for pollinators just waking up after winter.
Because they grow so slowly, Trout Lilies are especially vulnerable to being picked or trampled, so please watch where you step!
