Lake Talquin Lodge patrons please refrain from trapping or harming the opossum, raccoons, or armadillo as you chose to cohabitate with them when you purchased a camper in the woods.

She may only have one or two years in the wild. And yet, she spends those nights quietly helping the world around her. 🥺🐾
The Virginia opossum is one of North America's most misunderstood backyard visitors.
🌿 She eats insects and other small pests.
🍂 She helps clean up carrion.
🌙 She moves through our yards while most of us are asleep.
When threatened, she may hiss, drool, bare her teeth, or involuntarily play dead. These are defensive responses—not a sign that she's looking for a fight.
Her life is full of dangers: speeding cars, predators, dogs, and human-made hazards.
So the next time you spot an opossum crossing your yard, remember that she's a wild animal simply trying to survive.
Slow down if you see her on the road. Give her space. Let her pass safely.
