Scholarship Spotlight!

Meet Jaclyn Ferrel, a senior from Estelline, Texas, majoring in Communication Disorders. Jaclyn plans to use her degree to serve rural Texans as a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist. She shares that the people of WT have given her a true sense of community and belonging. “Scholarships have been HUGE for me,” Jaclyn says. “They allow me to focus on school rather than worry about finances. The extra time they give me to focus on my studies is setting me up for success in the long run.”

And there’s more to celebrate—this summer, Jaclyn married her high school sweetheart in the WT Chapel!

Come Visit Us... Only 8 miles southwest of Quitaque, Texas, the Pole Canyon Ranch is accessible yet remote from the busy outside world. Pole Canyon Ranch is managed by Phil and Lynnette Barefield. The ranch was established in 1911 by Lynnette's grandfather, Jim Taylor. He and his brother rode their horses into this area in December of 1910 in search of land. The ranch now encompasses about 6,000 acres of beautiful canyon lands with running water in several of the spring-fed creeks and miles of wonderful riding trails. Abundant game and beautiful scenery make each excursion a memorable adventure.

The ranch has 16 full service RV camp sites, a wonderful bath house with 3 full bathrooms, a dump station, and 35 individual horse pens. Day riding is also available for those wishing to do one-day activities.

The ranch guesthouse accommodates up to 10 individuals and is completely furnished with everything you would need except the food. Reservations are required with a 2-night minimum stay. For reservations call 806.269.1446 or email at [email protected].
