It’s time to come see the mountains!

The Red Door House is 3 bedroom, each having a private bath. There is also a half bath off of the main living room. The house has two queen suites and a king suite, aling with two pull out sofas one on the street level and the other on the lower level of the house.

The RDH is minutes from Clayton Georgia in the far NE corner of the state. The RDH is located minutes from the Appalachian trail, Lake Rabun, wineries and many fine restaurants. There is also whitewater rafting in nearby uostate SC and nearby Franklin NC.

The RDH is a 45 minute drive to Cherokee NC.

If trout and bass fishing, hiking, scenic waterfalls are what you want- there’s also plenty around here.

DID YOU KNOW???

Geographically, there's a big difference between the Appalachian Mountains (which stretch into Maritime Canada), Appalachian Trail (which goes from Georgia to Maine), and Appalachia.

The latter is more of a cultural distinction, expanding beyond the borders of the mountain range and into neighboring foothills & valleys. This is a great graphic depiction of the difference in the US!

We’ll be there!

JUMP WEEK AT CURRAHEE! SPECIAL HOURS!

Next week is Jump Week at Currahee. Eighty two years after Dick Winters and the original Band of Brothers trained at Camp Toccoa at Currahee, about 50 guys will arrive, bunk in the barracks, train all week, and then jump from a C-47 that was used in WWII over Normandy and Battle of the Bulge. You can come see all the action next week. Bring a camp chair to sit in the designated visitor areas and observe the training. The museum and gift shop will also be open. (Actual jumps are closed to the public.)

When visiting the area be sure to visit the Currahee Military Museum. This extraordinary museum showcases the training, exploits and history of the 506th- (Band of Brothers fame) Airborne Infantry Regiment.

The unit trained in our area prior to deployment during World War 2. The museum, located in Toccoa Georgia, a short drive from the Red Door is well appointed and showcases lots of WW2 military history.

"This is more than a museum. it's an experience you won't forget."
