Our summer hours begin today, and we’re excited to welcome you for a full day of programming at the Memorial.
🌞 New Building Hours:
Visitor Center and Information Center 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM
🌄 Daily Programming:
• Indigenous Hoop Dancing begins every day at 9:00 AM on the Grand View Terrace
• Sculptor’s Studio is now open 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Heritage Village is open daily Tuesday-Thursday
🌙 Evening Program & Lighting Ceremony - Begins at 9:00 PM nightly:
Join us tonight for the season’s first evening lighting ceremony, which includes:
• A short welcome and introduction
• The premiere of our new 20‑minute film, “Voices of America”
• A tribute honoring our veterans while the American flag is retired for the evening

Come be part of this special opening night and experience the Memorial in a whole new light.

Sharing this information regarding the 4th of July celebration at Mount Rushmore in case you're wanting to attend!! Please read the details on the ticket process, good luck!!

A fireworks display will once again light up the sky above Mount Rushmore National Memorial on July 3, 2026, as part of the nation's 250th anniversary celebration.


Tickets are required to attend the July 3 festivities and fireworks viewing and will be allocated through a lottery on Recreation.gov. Applications can be submitted from April 8-12. Each applicant may request up to four tickets, along with either a parking space or shuttle service option. Lottery results will be announced on April 14.

Spring is a beautiful time to visit the hills and explore, stay with us when you do!!

Usually, this time of year we’d still be strapping on snowshoes. This winter had other plans.

With warmer days settling in early, many trails across the Black Hills and Badlands region have already shifted to hiking paths rather than snowshoe routes. It’s an early chance to trade winter gear for hiking boots, stretch your legs, and take in the landscape as it begins to wake up for the season.

No snowshoes needed. Just hit the trail. 🥾
