Silver Mountain Resort & Cabins is open for the 2020 season and we plan to stay open!
We are offering 10% off if you book a reservation between June 5th- August 31st (this will not apply to reservations made before 4-26-2020). We understand how difficult this time is for everyone and we are wanting to offer you and your family a place to stay and a chance to get away and hopefully relax. Wow! What a crazy couple days we have had here in the Black Hills. A May winter storm dropped a grand total of 22inches of snow here in Rockerville, almost 2 days without power and multiple downed trees. We were blessed to have had awesome guests who are very understanding and made the best of it.

It’s that time of year again!! Silver Mountain Resort & Cabins is looking to immediately hire summer staff. We are currently seeking someone to work for May-October. We are located 12 miles away from Rapid City near Rockerville. Duties will include cleaning cabins, laundry, watering plants, cleaning the pool and occasional yard work. Wages will be $12-$15 depending on experience, and opportunities for wage increase after the first month. A gas allowance is also given on each payday as well ($3.00 each day you worked)

Hours will be 8:30am-3:30pm (ending hours may vary depending on the work load for the day) Must be able to work weekends! We are looking for a reliable applicant, Housekeeping experience is a plus, must have your own transportation, positive attitude, be self motivated and must be able to work by yourself while staying focused. Position is seasonal and will run through the month of October.

"Beefy Ride"
A lone bison grazes the Badlands plains as few cowbirds keep him company.

Brown headed cowbirds are commonly found near a bison and share a symbiotic relationship. Cowbirds catch insects that are flushed out by the foraging bison and also eat insects that they find in the bison's fur. Bison also benefit from the presence of cowbirds with a reduced number of insect pests and forage competitors.

Cowbirds are constantly on the move with no nest of their own and thus lay eggs in nests of other small birds, leaving the host species to raise the young cowbirds as their own. Despite growing up in a foster family, with siblings that look nothing like them, a cowbird always finds a way to be a cowbird when they grow up, its fascinating.

Independence Day Fireworks at Devils Tower. You can also see light trail of some daredevils ascending the tower. Fourth of July holds a special place in my heart, not just for the obvious reason, but the next day happens to be my wife's birthday as well. So we enjoy watching this beautiful display of light moments before her special day. Love all.
