Chief Logan Reservation is nestled among the rolling hills of southeastern Ohio, about twenty miles southeast of Chillicothe and five miles north of Route 35. Our valley is located at the end of a long winding road cut through a beautiful hardwood forest. This picturesque natural bowl is framed by ridges where Simon Kenton and other frontiersmen walked and boasts over two hundred and fifty acres o

f natural wonders. On your left as you enter the camp is Sproat Lake, a beautiful, spring-fed twelve acre lake that is perfect for boating and swimming. There is also a beaver pond that supports a variety of roaming wildlife and a gorgeous wetland plant life, including willows, waterlillies, and bald cypress trees. The adjoining land, owned by Mead Paper Company, provides many additional square miles of wilderness.

Yesterday, Simon Kenton Council updated its COVID-19 guidelines. You can find the full statement here: https://skcscouts.org/2021/05/26/updated-covid-19-guidelines/

With the Updated guidelines, there are some exciting new changes to our procedures for this summer, along with some other information, that we would like to share with you (If your unit is registered to attend this summer, we sent this information to the registration contact earlier today).

PROGRAM - We will no longer be splitting camp to do a block schedule program. We are excited to announce that we will be going back to the traditional open program that CLR has come to be known for. This means that, for the most part, a Scout can start and/or work on any merit badge or requirement at any point during the week while the program area is open. With our staff being of a smaller size than in previous summers, there will be more programs on a set schedule than in previous summers to help ensure the high-quality standard of our program. The updated weekly schedule that includes any and all exceptions to the open program will be shared next week.

TENTING - Single-person tenting is no longer the only available option to troops. We are still asking Scouts & Scouters to bring their own tents, as this will minimize cleaning procedures that accompany the constant sharing of our camp equipment. Canvas tents will still be available while limited supplies last.

MEALS – As we discussed in our previous communication, meals this summer will still be served in 2 cafeteria style shifts in the dining hall. We will have a Flag Ceremony and a Friendship Circle in between the meal shifts. When it is not your unit's shift in the dining hall, we ask that you spend that time enjoying your troop’s company in your campsite until areas open.

VISITORS/ FAMILY NIGHT – For the safety of our Scouts, Scouters, and their families, we will still NOT be hosting Family Night during this summer. The fewer people we have coming and going from camp, the lower the risk to our units in camp and our staff.

This Ordeal & Brotherhood Weekend will be the last O.A. event to be held at CLR. The Lodge's activities committee is planning some great fellowship events for Saturday evening after the ceremonies. Whether being a candidate taking their Ordeal, a member taking their Brotherhood, or a member coming to join in the fun of fellowship, we hope to see as many people at this even as possible!

All Scouts who attend must bring a BSA Med Form (Parts A & B ).

Our first Ordeal of the 2021 season will be at Chief Logan Reservation on May 21-23, 2021. We invite all members to come out and make this a memorable event, as this will be the last O.A. Lodge event to be held at CLR.

Members, if you register online before May 17th, you will receive a $5 discount. Anyone who has completed their Ordeal in 2020, or before, is eligible to seal their membership in the OA by completing their brotherhood. The cost is an additional $20 added to the regular weekend fee.

If you are not already a member of the O.A., but you were elected to join by your unit in 2020 or 2021, you can register as a candidate for just $40.

04/30/2021

REGISTRATION: Today is the last day to pay for summer camp before the price switches over to the Late Rate/Fee. Please check your unit's registrations to make sure everything has been paid.

As always, all first-year/cross-over Scouts will be guaranteed the Discounted Fee after today, but units must contact the SKC Camping Department.
