🎉❤️Thank you, Raymond voters!!!

Yesterday, voters sent a clear message. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to learn about the issues, ask questions, and make their voices heard.
While that chapter may be over, our family’s fight is not.
The Town of Raymond is still pursuing a lawsuit against our family and we intend to see it through. We believe the facts are on our side, and we believe we will prevail.
As many of you have now seen for yourselves, there was no ordinance that specifically prohibited what we did: hosting a private wedding on our own property. Yet our family has spent the last year dealing with the emotional, financial, and personal toll of this battle.
No family should have to go through what ours has gone through.
This has never been about special treatment. It has been about fairness, property rights, and equal treatment under the law.
We will continue fighting, and we will continue asking the questions that deserve answers:
Why are taxpayer dollars being spent on this lawsuit?
Why is a local family being dragged through the courts over activities that were not clearly prohibited by ordinance?
And how much more will taxpayers be asked to spend?

To everyone who has supported us, encouraged us, and stood beside us throughout this process, thank you! Your support has meant more than you know.
This fight isn’t over, we’re not backing down.
We ask you to stay engaged, keep asking questions, and join us in demanding accountability, transparency, and fairness for everyone in Raymond.

We will continue to keep you updated and share more about what has been happening behind the scenes throughout this process.
But we’d also like to get back to sharing some of the wonderful gatherings, celebrations, and memories that have taken place at The Roma Farm over the past few weeks. The spirit of our property, our family, and the people who gather here should not be overshadowed by a small group of individuals who believe they should have control over how others use their own land.
The Roma Farm has always been about bringing people together, creating memories, and sharing our little piece of Raymond with others.

‼️Raymond residents and voters **please take the time to watch this video before voting on Article 28, the proposed STR ordinance, on June 9.‼️

I know many people following this page are not Raymond residents, but I am sharing this both on my personal page and The Roma Farm page because this ordinance will directly affect property owners, rentals, enforcement authority, and the future direction of this town.

This 22-minute video puts together actual public meeting footage and discussions from the past year so residents can see for themselves how this process unfolded from beginning to end.

The video includes:• the very first Select Board meeting where the STR petition was introduced• discussion about ordinance language changing during signature collection• acknowledgment that what people signed was not necessarily the same ordinance later presented• questions raised by board members about the process itself• discussion about increased enforcement, staffing, and costs to the town• the involvement of individuals connected both to the initiative group and town boards• months of Planning Board workshops• and the final Planning Board discussion about forwarding the ordinance WITHOUT recommendation

At the end of the workshops, Planning Board members openly discussed:• not recommending the ordinance• concerns about creating “more rules”• and forwarding it without “the weight of the Planning Board” behind it

One member stated directly:“I don’t recommend it.”

Another described it as:“just another… more rules.”

The board also discussed that forwarding it without recommendation meant it would not carry the endorsement of the Planning Board itself.

Later public discussions characterized the process very differently.

That’s why this video matters.

This is not rumor.This is not edited commentary.These are the actual words spoken during public meetings.

Yesterday I spent the entire day working on prep for a fundraiser at Jordan Small for the 8th grade class. .

Decorating, setting up, running around all afternoon, doing the dessert tables, and staying to clean up at the end of the night.

Every centerpiece, every table setting, the flowers, the chafing dishes, platters for desserts… all of things we loaded up and transported from our home, The Roma Farm. All the little details that make something feel special.

It was a long, busy day… and I’m feeling it today.
But it was worth it.

The kids raised a lot for their class, and everyone had a great night.

Because this is what I do.
And this is what I’ve always done.

I did the same thing for my daughter’s class last year.
I’ve already been asked to do it again next year… and I would, even without having a child there.

Because we show up for our community.
We always have.

From coaching these kids, to helping with events, to opening our home for small, private gatherings… this is how we’ve raised our family.

To give back. To be part of something. To support the people around us.

And I’ll be honest… it wasn’t easy to show up yesterday.

But I did it for my son.
And I did it for the people in this town who have supported us and continue to support us.

Because I’m not going to let a situation like this change who we are
or stop us from doing good for others.

We’ll keep showing up.

🚨Hello friends and supporters of The Roma Farm,

We want to start by saying thank you.

The messages, the support, the people checking in, it has meant more to us than you probably realize. This has not been easy on our family, and knowing people are paying attention truly matters.

Yesterday, April 7, was our court date.

The judge moved quickly and let us know the case will be going to a pre trial. He was very kind, and we now have the opportunity to bring everything forward and be heard.

We are currently waiting to learn what the next court date will be, and we welcome the opportunity to show the courts what has transpired here.

Because the reality of this situation has been lost somewhere along the way.

This all started after we hosted a small, thoughtful wedding for a friend. A private gathering. People from this town and nearby communities, just like us.

We were there the entire time. Our kids were there. We handled everything ourselves, from setting up to cleaning up, just like we always have.

Nothing about it was a commercial operation.

After that, we received a notice of violation.

Not for running a business. Not for operating a venue.

For a temporary tent, a temporary porta potty, and temporary parking signs.

That’s it.

Those temporary items were then used to support an interpretation that we are operating as a large scale commercial event venue.

That is not the reality of our home or how we use our property.

We are a private residence that has, over many years, hosted occasional small private gatherings for friends and family.

Somehow, that has been turned into something it is not.

Over the past year, we have asked a very simple question.

What ordinance did we violate?

We have asked it more than once, in more than one setting.

And we still do not have a clear answer.

At the same time, we have tried to understand how this all unfolded. We have submitted public records requests, followed the process, and what we have received back has raised more questions than answers.

There is also something else that we feel people should be aware of.

The individual who filed the complaint against our property has also been actively involved in pushing forward a short term rental ordinance that is now headed to a town wide vote.

We are not saying people should not be involved in their community.

But it is fair to ask questions when the same person connected to proposed changes is also the only complainant behind enforcement action against a single property.

That is something people should at least be aware of.

This is not just about us.

It is about how decisions are made, how rules are interpreted, and how they are applied.

Because if this can happen to our family, it raises a bigger question for every property owner in this town.

We are doing our best to take this one step at a time and find the right legal support as we move forward.

We are not going anywhere.

We love our home. We love this town. And we will continue to stand up for ourselves and for what is right.

👉🏻🚨We are currently looking for a Maine attorney experienced in land use, municipal law, or civil rights to review our case involving the Town of Raymond.

We are being sued by the town under a land use enforcement action, yet no one has clearly identified what specific ordinance we violated.

Here is what we have documented:

• A Notice of Violation issued over a private event involving a tent, one porta potty, and parking signs
• No cited ordinance prohibiting private events or renting property
• Written confirmation from the town in the past stating these activities were not violations
• A reconsideration request that was accepted by the town, scheduled for a hearing, then rejected at the last minute
• A proposed “consent agreement” sent by the town’s attorney with no clear authorization from any town body
• Ongoing public records requests seeking who authorized that agreement, which remain unanswered
• No complaints from law enforcement or surrounding neighbors — this action stems from a single complainant
• Evidence showing similar properties in Raymond hosting events without enforcement

We also have multiple written statements from individuals who attended events at our property confirming they were small, private gatherings where we were present.

This has had a serious impact on our family, our home, and our ability to use our property.

We are organized, documented, and prepared.

‼️⚠️ More information; After months of silence, this is what the Town sent us back in October 2025.

After the March 2025 ZBA decision, we repeatedly asked the Town of Raymond one simple question:

What ordinance did we violate?

We received no answer.

Months went by with no citation, no enforcement, and no explanation.

We continued using our property the same way we always had — including hosting a private family wedding in August 2025— and still, nothing from the Town.

Then in October 2025, without any prior discussion, notice, or involvement from us, the Town’s attorney sent us this ‘consent agreement.’

This document attempts to impose restrictions on our property — including limitations on basic private use — that we have never been shown exist in any ordinance.

We asked the Town who authorized this and where it came from.

We were not given an answer.

We filed a records request, went to Superior Court to get that answer, and paid the requested fee.

We were given a thumb drive.

There is nothing on it that explains who authorized this or how it was created.

To this day, we have not been told — and the Town has since moved forward without ever providing that answer.

We are sharing this document so people can see exactly what was sent to us.

For clarity —this is NOT what the town is currently suing us over. They never even addressed how or why this was created. Instead, their next step was to take us to court, asking us to give up our land use rights and seeking monetary penalties.

We have repeatedly asked the town to simply show us what ordinance we have violated, and to this day, they have not provided one.

We believe transparency matters, especially when it comes to property rights.

‼️Hello friends and supporters of The Roma Farm,

We’re going to be very real about what’s happening to our family right now.

Many of you saw the article about us in the Portland Press Herald, and the support we received meant more than we can put into words. What most people don’t know is that behind the scenes, the Town of Raymond had already voted to take us to court.

We have now officially been served.

Todd and I live on this property. We care for it, maintain it, and have put years into preserving it. We have coached kids in this town, and we are raising our own children here. This is our home.

And yet, we are now being sued over what the town claims are land use violations.

There is no clear ordinance in Raymond that prohibits what we have done. We have hosted small, private gatherings on our property while being present the entire time.

This all started from a complaint by one neighbor.

Since then, this has escalated into something that has been financially and emotionally exhausting for our family.

Before this ever reached court, we went through the Zoning Board of Appeals process to defend ourselves. During those meetings, no clear ordinance was ever cited showing that what we were doing was a violation. No clear evidence was presented showing that what we were doing violated any specific ordinance.

Instead, the narrative shifted to portraying our home as a large-scale event operation, which is simply not true.

After those meetings, we repeatedly asked the town a very simple question: what exactly is the land use violation, and where is it written?

We never received a clear answer.

We also never received any fine, citation, or formal determination following those meetings.

Months went by.

We even hosted another small family event using the same setup that had supposedly been a violation and received no violation at all.

At that point, we formally asked the town to either identify the ordinance we were violating or return the money we had spent defending ourselves.

Instead of answering that question, on October 24, 2025, we received an email from an attorney containing a “consent agreement” regarding our property.

There was no explanation, no record of a vote, no documentation showing who authorized it, and no indication that it had been approved by any governing body.

We had never even heard of a consent agreement prior to that email.

The document itself required us to give up certain rights to our own property, limit how we could use it, and accept conditions that would permanently affect our land.

Because of that, we asked a very basic question: who authorized this?

We filed a formal request for that information.

We followed up multiple times.

We were told it would take extensive time to produce an answer and were required to pay a $100 deposit.

Instead of receiving a simple answer, we were forced to file in Superior Court just to try to obtain that information.

The town hired attorneys to fight that request.

A judge ultimately directed us to pay the $100 and the information would be produced.

We paid it.

Weeks passed.

What we received did not answer the question. Instead, we were given large amounts of unrelated emails, including our own communications and complaints from a neighbor.

There is still no documentation showing who authorized that consent agreement.

At the same time, the town is using taxpayer dollars to defend withholding that information while also moving forward with a lawsuit against us.

We believe that should concern everyone.

At the same time, the town has been actively trying to create new ordinances around short term rentals and private events. Many of you have seen that process unfold.

So it raises a serious question: how can we be in violation of something that the town itself is still trying to define?

All of this has been happening while we are raising our children, caring for our home, and trying to move forward through very real personal challenges.

We are now facing a court date on April 7th in Bridgton District Court.

We are handling this on our own.

We are sharing this because people deserve to understand what is happening. Not just to us, but what could happen to anyone when there are no clear answers and no accountability.

We are not giving up. But this has taken a real toll.

Many of you who have visited The Roma Farm have probably been greeted by this handsome boy, Moo.

Right now our sweet greeter is fighting for his life. Yesterday Moo suddenly became septic and had to undergo emergency surgery. He made it through the surgery and is now in ICU fighting hard to recover.

Moo has welcomed so many friends, families, and visitors to the farm over the years, and now he needs all the prayers and positive thoughts he can get.

Please keep our sweet boy in your prayers today. We are staying by his side and hoping he can pull through so he can keep greeting everyone at the farm for many more years. ❤️
