"Thank You Rehoboth Beach" was started as a way to say thank you to all the town officials - past and present under the leadership of Mayor Sam Cooper for their efforts over the years to help create not only a beautiful town to live (and visit) but also installing a line of defense against damaging Nor'easter's like Storm Jonas - which hit the town HARD on January 22 - 24th . l in parts of the NE for several days, and was the snowstorm of record in several NE cities including NYC. Delaware received 17.2 inches of snow, 75 - 85 mph wind gust were recorded from Assateague to Lewes and 59 mph sustained winds in Lewes. On Saturday morning, the water level at Lewes rose to 9.27 feet due to a storm surge of more than 4 feet above astronomical tides - this is the HIGHEST level on record at that location. If we had not had in place such mature sand dunes and a fortified board walk - we would be digging out big time from a major disaster. This site was created to show our support and gratitude by posting pictures and comments. There is never enough time spent saying thank you and way too much time spent criticizing.
