Balsam Bay Resort

Balsam Bay Resort Balsam Bay Resort "Old School" - when Russell and Imogene Schultz owned it... Russell and Imogene Schultz created and built "Balsam Bay Resort".

These two people were friends to many in the community and considered family by many. The people who visited the resort during the time they owned it left with memories that will last a lifetime.

"God grant that I may live to fish until my dying day.
And when my final cast is made I most humbly pray,
when in the Lord's safe landing net I am peacefully asleep,
that in His Mercy, I be judged as good enough to keep." Anonymous

This was a saying that if anyone who knew Russell... knew it fit him to a tee!

The Main House with a small peek of the garage behind the truck in 1944. The sreened-in porch was eventually sided and enclosed however it wasn't insulated. Many years later new siding was put on and it was insulated at that time.

Fun Fact: Did you know that where the "new" double wide house is now sitting used to be where the old wood sheds were at. Not once but TWICE while chopping wood (different occassions) Russ was hit by lightening. Guess he shouldn't have been out there working in the rain... but chores needed to get done no matter what the weather was like outside.

Fun Fact: Did you know there are more cedar trees on the property than balsam trees? Russ couldn't name the resort with "cedar" in the name though because Cedar Point Resort was already up and running. The main lodge was built using balsam trees and so it was decided on "Balsam Bay".

"An easy place to find, a hard place to leave" - Bob Greathouse created this motto (I think he even created some shirts and hats with this saying as well)
