Today we officially handed the keys for Lake McDonald Retreat over to new owners. What a trip it’s been!

- 745 days of ownership
- 366 guest stays (that’s a lot of laundry and chocolate!)
- 2 yoga retreats
- Several essential workers hosted during 1 loooong pandemic
- Many anniversaries, engagements, birthdays and other life milestones celebrated
- All with an overall guest rating of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We’ve learned so much and have thoroughly enjoyed hosting. We’re focusing on family time for now but you never know what the future may bring - it’s always an adventure. We’ve been so lucky to live on site and experience the charm of living in a 100-year old lake home since last October while we hunted for our forever home. Here are some of our favorite moments.

The new owners are fantastic and will be permanent residents in the community and be maintaining the same look and feel for the rentals. If you’ve been considering a visit or would like to return, their listing can be found at:

We’ve been a bit quiet lately, but with good reason! We are excited to share that we will be transitioning ownership of our home and beloved retreat to a new family later this summer. We look forward to hosting guests who have already booked with us for the summer, however we have blocked all calendars for future/additional reservations while we savor every last bit of lake time as a family and prepare for a move.

The new owners plan to live on site and continue offering the space to guests. We’ll keep you posted on how to stay in touch with them when they’re ready to launch.

Not your typical lake day. We had a last minute cancellation tonight. If you’d like to come get cozy in the tiny house, we’d love to have you!

Or.. you could spend it in a cute tiny house. ☺️ Spring and summer bookings are starting to roll in but we still have some openings. Our place makes a great home base for regional hiking.

And a last minute cancellation re-opened some space next week. The forecast is calling for sun - come take a break at the lake! ☀️ 🏡 🛶

Local tip 35 - Sticking with the theme of our last tip, this time around we recommend a drive to another local small town. We made a pit stop in Enumclaw today on our way back from skiing at . Normally a town we whizz by, we dawdled a bit today and enjoyed some awesome fresh donuts and a delicious latte from on Cole Street. The Local is both coffee shop and new-age general store (think apothecary) with a bunch of cute modern farmhouse decor and gift items. Cole Street itself has COVID-safe outdoor fire pits lining the street Fridays through Sundays from 4-8pm. Seating was plentiful on a Sunday afternoon and there are numerous food venues to choose from including the brewery and .enumclaw. We didn’t have time to cruise other shops but wish we did. This is a perfect place to spend a lazy afternoon, just 40 minutes from our property.

We have 7 days left in February and recently opened the calendar for summer/early fall bookings (hellloooo lake vacay!)

Local tip 34 - Take an afternoon to explore the quaint town of Summer, WA. We made the 35 minute drive at the recommendation of friends to visit the furniture store in search of the perfect couch. We were surprised to find an adorable downtown with a bunch of murals, cute shops and restaurants. The experience at the Old Cannery was like none other - Not only a nice selection of furniture, but tons of interesting displays and even an old school candy counter with fudge. We couldn’t decide on a flavor so we left with an out of this world trifecta of Butterfinger, Cookie Dough and Snickers. We selected for lunch followed by a latte and hot chocolate across the street at . We are saving room for crepes on the next visit (swipe to see the menu). We ended the afternoon with pictures by a colorful mural and leaving a note of gratitude in a random gratitude box - seriously cool!

This is an easy drive from our tiny house - just 35 minutes. It would make for a great date day or girls day outing.

Our Story

It’s been a dream of mine to have my own unique space to hosts guests for more than 10 years. I’ve logged more than 1.8 million flyer miles and spent 800+ nights of my life in one hotel chain alone (and countless others). During all of my travels, the rare opportunity to stay somewhere unique has always made my heart sing and I wanted to offer that experience to others. We stumbled on our lake property over Memorial Day weekend in 2019 and knew instantly it was “the one”. A sense of peace and nostalgia hangs in the air. We fell in love with the early 1900’s cabin architecture, the delightful garden and OMG it had a tiny house too!! 6 weeks and 24 sets of sheets and pillowcases and later (well, it wasn’t quite *that* easy...) we opened our doors to the tiny house in July followed closely behind by our other two cabins. 60 days in with 35 stays under our belt (all the 5-star reviews!), it’s been joyous, challenging and every bit of fun I imagined. We hope to host you soon!
