When we first started renovating our River Bridge Cabin, we had duck hunters in mind. Folks told us we were crazy. That they'd be rowdy and dirty. That they would ruin mattresses and that I was a fool for buying white sheets and towels. And the dogs! 😱
But let me tell you, we've hosted duck hunters all season long. As the season comes to a close, I want to say that we don't have ONE complaint about our water fowl friends. We have been so pleased with our guests. They respected our property. Communicated their travel plans well. And, other than some dirty boot tracks, our space was left in excellent condition!
I know that some of our local hunters would prefer to keep their honey holes a secret but hunting in NEA infuses hundreds of thousands of dollars into the local economy every year. They shop at our local outdoor stores, buy groceries and gas, and fill up tables at our local restaurants.
This season we've had groups from Iowa, North Carolina, Mississippi, and Florida. We know that they didn't all find the ducks but hopefully they found plenty of laughs and made plenty of memories. Maybe we didn't host Kevin Costner but we hope the ones we did, keep coming back year after year.
