Grits and Glamour coming to Garfield County Fair

Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan bring a spirited, captivating show to Rifle

The dynamic country duo of Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan is bringing their “Grits and Glamour” show to the Garfield County Fair and Rodeo. The concert takes place Aug. 4 at the fairgrounds, in Rifle, Colo. Tickets go on sale June 1
at 12:01 a.m. at garfieldcountyfair.com.

Grits and Glamour was formed in 2009, and features a unique show that has wowed fans across the globe. The friendship between the “Dos Divas” has blossomed through this collaboration, and their shows reflect that camaraderie. Off-the-cuff remarks, tales from country music lore, and some humble, self-deprecating humor is the norm for these talented, and laid-back country girls.

“Although we've practically grown up together, running in the same circles and backstage at the Opry as children, it truly is a newfound friendship,” Tillis said.

“We've known one another for years, but over the last few years we've grown from

'someone you know' to having a real 'got-your-back' kind of friendship,” Morgan added.

Known for their spirit-lifting harmonies, Grits and Glamour performs classics including Tillis' “Maybe It Was Memphis,” and “Mi Vida Loca,” and Morgan’s “Something in Red” and “Except for Monday.”

Combined, the country music stars have recorded 28 top-10 hits, including a dozen No.

1 songs. They have sold more than 18 million records.

Daughter of country music legend Mel Tillis, Pam is a Grammy-award-winning singer, who has appeared on the hit ABC television series, “Nashville.” She also earned the title, “Female Vocalist of the Year” from the Country Music Awards (CMA) in 1994.

Morgan, who is the daughter of the late Grand Old Opry star George Morgan, is the first woman in country music to begin her career with three consecutive records certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). She first played at the Grand Ole Opry in her native Nashville at age 13.

And while Tillis and Morgan are spectacular on their own, the real magic comes when

they merge their musical talents … all while wearing high heels. “We've been called divas a time or two,” Morgan has said.
“Now, I'm sure they meant it in the best sense of the word,” Tillis added. “As far as being

'divas,' we share the title and the responsibility!”

As high as their stars have risen, Tillis and Morgan are down-home country girls at

heart. Off-tour, the former spends her time tending to her organic vegetable garden, and the latter to her roses and numerous animals.

Garfield County Fair concert evening promises spectacular songs, interspersed with captivating tales from two talented women who have lived on the inside of the country music scene for decades.

The veteran recording artists will open for country music star and American Idol winner

Scotty McCreery. The Garfield County Fair and Rodeo takes place July 31 – Aug. 6.
