Ready for some Trail Magic?!?
We are opening the brand-new Ukiah AT Hostel near the Trail, and we are hoping that if you are in the area, you will come visit us! My husband (Mike – AKA Stovestomper GA->ME ’90) and I have had this dream since he thru hiked the trail 36 years ago. And now it is finally coming true!
We have a small cabin located near Rileyville, VA in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We are approximately 5 miles west of the Mathews Arm Campground, located at MM-22 on the Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park.
The trailhead can be accessed via Heiskell Hollow Trail (yellow blaze) and from there, it is a 1-mile road walk to our cabin door. The lower half of Heiskell Hollow Trail is very scenic, passing by beautiful stone walls built by the mountain folks, crossing the stream a total of 5 times, but there are plenty of stepping stones to keep your boots dry.
We offer the following:
• Our bunkroom has 4 bunks with real mattresses, pillows and clean, comfy sheets
• Bunkroom bathroom with walk-in shower
• Private room with queen bed and private bath (shower and bathtub)
• Full kitchen with stove, microwave and refrigerator
• Laundry facilities
• HOT showers with soaps, shampoos and conditioner
• Clean, fresh towels
• Shorts, shirts and footwear to use while doing your laundry
• HVAC
• Internet access and streaming capabilities
• Lots of receptacles for recharging devices
• Lots of books, DVDs and music CDs
• Co****le boards
• Outdoor grill
• Outdoor fire pit
• Shuttles to/from Luray and back to the Trail at Mathews Arm campground
• Frozen pizzas, ice cream and drinks**
Our prices are as follows:
• Single bunk with amenities listed above: $20/night
• Private room with amenities listed above: $50/night (two people max)
• Shuttle to/from Luray for resupply: $20 *
• Shuttle back to Mathews Arm: $50 *
*This is the maximum charge per run. We can haul up to four hikers, depending on their size!
**food and drinks are available for a small restocking fee or can be bartered for some small outdoor chores
We accept cash and Venmo.
