Took a day trip to Pymatuning State Park yesterday…just because I love it there.

Growing up we had a cottage in Espyville, just a short walk from the lake. We spent many hours in that lake…swimming, fishing, boating. My childhood memories all come back to Pymatuning.

Sometimes you just need a little walk down memory lane, so after the kids went to school, I took advantage of a beautiful fall day and drove to see one of my favorite spots. ❤️

The first shot is at the end of Bass Drive, where our cottage was located. My parents sold the place long ago. Every few years I come back to see it again. And every time I can’t believe how much smaller everything looks. I guess that happens when you get older.

I visited the Linesville Spillway, took a walk where the bird sanctuary once was, and hiked the Ackerman trail. I stopped at Yorkie’s for some custard, but they had already closed for the season, so I just snapped a pic as a hot dog. 🌭🤪

I drove across the bridge to Andover, Ohio just for old times sake. We always went to the beach on the Ohio side, so I made a stop there.

I stopped in town just to do a quick walk around the square. I chuckled when I saw the Sparkle Mart is still there!

October is always hard with the anniversary of my mom’s passing—6 years this year. I guess I came here to feel a little piece of her. 😊

One thing I’ve learned from having this page and sharing places is there are a lot of memories associated with the places we visit. I love when you all share your memories, so I thought I’d share a little bit of mine.💕

I am back with another state park for my Pennsylvania state park series.

If you’re new here, I am hiking in all 125 Pennsylvania State parks. I started this goal in 2023, and I’m currently at 111 parks. I’ve seen a lot of of Pennsylvania! Keystone State Park is located in the Laurel Highlands of southwestern Pennsylvania and it is definitely an underrated park.

This is the park that I live closest to, so I’ve been here many times. It’s a great family park with an easy path around the lake, a beach for swimming, snack stand in the summer, boat rentals, fishing, and there’s even a campground with cabins and yurts. There’s really something here for everyone.

And if you want to go for a hike in the woods, there’s about 8 miles of trails.

It’s also a great spot to look at the foliage and sunrise and sunset.

They have a lot of programming in the park as well. I’ve attended a full moon hike.

It’s a great park that is definitely worth checking out.

I loved this sweet spot in the Moshannon State Forest. ❤️

It’s a short walk to the ADA accessible pier. Great for wildlife viewing. Take a short hike around the pond or connect to the 73-mile Quehanna Trail.

There’s a lot to explore in this area of the Moshannon State Forest. just be warned, you will not have cell service. Purple lizard maps are very handy. 😉
