Camp Cutler

Camp Cutler Camp Cutler, Inc. Mission Statement: To serve the community by providing a natural setting for rust The origin of Camp Cutler began in June 1960, when Solon L.

Camp Cutler consists of one hundred sixty acres of semi-wilderness land. The camp is made up of woods, fields, streams, wetlands, and two small lakes. Cutler and Lucille Cutler donated 120 acres of land to the St. Louis Boys Club in memory of their son Ted. Their purpose was to see a camp developed for the youth of the area. The camp was expanded in 1975 when Mrs. Gertrude Leppien gave an adjoinin

g 40 acres of land. This gift was in memory of her husband Fred. The two small lakes are located on this property. The camp is presently operated as a non-profit corporation and governed by the Camp Cutler Board of Directors. A two-looped 44 station nature trail was developed in Spring 1993. The Camp Cutler Nature Trail was mapped by Dennis Worst, Registered Forester. Information about the plants and animals described at each station was provided by Dennis Worst, revised and expanded by members of the Camp Cutler Board of Directors and friends of Camp Cutler, and updated in 1999 by Dr. Richard Roeper and students from Alma College. A trail guide is available at the nature area entrance. Use of the camp is free of charge for both individual and community groups, such as school, church, and scout groups, as well as for family outings and service clubs.

Troop 611 hosted a Paul Bunyan award weekend Friday 5/31-6/1/24. They learned and taught about 8 different tools used in trail maintenance.
They then spent 3 hours clearing Autumn Olive and building "rabbitats" for small game to hide from predators.
Troop 610 also participated for this Saturday lessons lead by Troop 611 and helped with the service work as well.

Dear Friends of Camp Cutler,

Camp Cutler is a spacious wilderness for families and youth groups to explore nature. Our only source of income to keep this facility in good condition and available for free is from people like you – service clubs, companies, businesses, and caring individuals. We need your continued support and contributions to meet the fixed expenses and expand the facility for increased usage and possibilities. Please visit the website @ www.campcutler.com for more information.

Spring is here and it’s time to think about outdoor activities. For scouting and adventure groups that means planning camping trips to Camp Cutler. The Camp is available free of charge for day visits or overnight primitive camping. This opportunity comes because of generous donors like you. There were many scouting events at the Camp during 2023 along with community groups for reunions and cookouts. Bat boxes were put up and the autumn olive invasion was attacked in the back area as an Eagle Scout Project. Another Eagle project built shelving and storage areas in the back shelter to make it more usable for scout groups.

Projects planned for this year include continued road maintenance, bridge reinforcement, and restructuring of a storage/bathroom building that has fallen into disrepair over the years. Your donations help fund these projects, along with general maintenance, insurance, and helping with Eagle Scout projects.

The Camp Cutler Work Bee will be Saturday April 27th. It’s a day of cleaning, raking, sweeping, and removing debris. We always end with a hot dog roast. Please feel free to come and participate if you would like to help or just to enjoy a good campfire and learn more about Camp Cutler.

Again, thank you for your support of Camp Cutler. We appreciate every donation we receive and promise you that it will be put to good use.

Sincerely,

Please mail your tax-deductible donation to:
