Cabbagetown, Grant Park and Summerhill are genuinely great — better
food, more character, lower rates than downtown.

They're also nowhere near a MARTA train.

With a car, they're the smartest booking in the city. Without one,
you'll hand the savings straight to a rideshare driver in traffic.

Booking an Austin Airbnb in 2026? One thing changed that most people don't know 👇
As of July 1, every Austin listing must legally show a short-term rental license number. Platforms have to remove unlicensed ones — and the city already flagged nearly 2,785 of them. If a listing doesn't show a license, there's a real chance it gets cancelled on you.
While you're checking that, the honest neighborhood list:
🚫 East 6th after 11 PM → bar strip, no sleep 🚫 East Riverside → cheap for a reason (higher crime)
✅ Book instead: South Congress for first-timers, Mueller for families, Rainey Street if you actually want nightlife.
