Well, look who finally got the memo!

Texas is finally sending some cooler weather our way, and after all those hot days, we’re ready for it!

This weekend around Northlake, we’re looking at afternoon highs in the upper 60s to around 70, with mornings dipping into the 40s. Sounds like somebody finally remembered it’s October!

If you’re staying in your RV, don’t forget to secure your awning and anything outside that might catch the wind as the cool front moves through.

Now the important question…

Where to Go Wednesday is taking us to Grapevine for something a little different this weekend!

The 29th Annual Butterfly Flutterby is happening Saturday, October 17, celebrating the monarch butterflies making their annual migration from Canada to Mexico, right through North Texas.

Bring the family, and even your pets, for a day of live butterfly releases, arts and crafts, butterfly photo opportunities, costume contests, and plenty of colorful garden scenery. There will also be snacks and butterfly merchandise available for purchase.

Here’s what you need to know before you go:

Location: Grapevine Botanical Gardens at Heritage Park, 411 Ball Street, Grapevine, TX

Date: Saturday, October 17, 2026

Time: 10 AM–2 PM

Admission: FREE!

Live Butterfly Releases: 11 AM, 11:45 AM, 12:30 PM, and 1:30 PM

Additional Activities: Mayoral Monarch Pledge at 10:45 AM, costume contests, crafts, and butterfly photo opportunities. Tie-dye T-shirts are available for a $2 activity fee.

All four butterfly releases take place right at the Botanical Gardens, so you won’t have to travel between locations.

It’s a fun way to spend a Saturday outdoors, learn a little about monarch migration, and enjoy one of Grapevine’s prettiest spots. And with free admission, it’s an easy outing to add to your weekend plans.

Some folks are packing up and heading to their next destination.

There’s something about breakfast cooked outside that just tastes better.

Coffee brewing, potatoes sizzling, eggs in the skillet, and absolutely no reason to rush.

And let’s be honest, half the fun of camping is figuring out what everybody’s cooking.

Weekend getaway… where ya going?

Are you packing up the RV and hitting the road, heading somewhere close to home, or staying right where you are?

There’s something about a weekend with a change of scenery, a little fresh air, and no alarm clock that sounds pretty good right about now.

And sometimes the best trips aren’t the ones you’ve planned for months. They’re the ones you decide to take on a Friday afternoon.

Where to Go Wednesday is taking us to Grapevine this week.

If pumpkins, corn mazes and hayrides sound like your kind of fall afternoon, Hall’s Pumpkin Farm is officially open for the season.

Wander through the pumpkin patch, see if you can find your way out of the 2-acre corn maze, take a hayride and check out the farm animals. And yes, there’s kettle corn, apple c***r and funnel cakes involved too.

They’re open Wednesday through Sunday, and the corn maze is included with general admission.
General admission is $15 for ages 12+, $10 for ages 4–11, free for 3 and under, seniors and veterans,

Things to do….pumpkin patch, 2+ acre corn maze, hayrides, farm animals, vintage tractors and fall photo spots. Daytime hayrides even stop to feed the cows and donkeys.

**One thing to know before you go: Hall’s is cash only.

It’s an easy little fall outing from Northlake Village—and a pretty good excuse to go pick out a pumpkin you absolutely did not need.

You know how you walk past something at your site a dozen times and don’t really look at it?

Take 60 seconds today and actually look.

Check your hookups. Look for drips or anything that seems loose. Make sure nothing outside has shifted, and take a quick look around your RV for anything that just doesn’t look, sound or smell right.

You’re not doing a full inspection. You’re just paying attention.

Because catching something small today is a whole lot easier than dealing with a bigger problem tomorrow.
