It's another beautiful day at the Tail of the Dragon! I'm here with two awesome electric bikes, ready to ride!

When customers get back from a ride and say things like:

🗣"I might need to come back to spend more time on it!"

Our days are made! There's no better feeling than than seeing the pure joy on people's faces when they take their helmet off after a ride on an electric motorcycle. These comments are especially meaningful when they come from seasoned riders of 40+ years.

Well, maybe that feeling is second place to the one you get when you're actually riding an electric bike, and we're the only place in the mountains where you can do that😏

Exciting news! We now have rentals from and available directly from the Tail of the Dragon store on select days!

Come by and see what these bikes are all about, and maybe even try one for yourself!

We will be here Friday 5/31 and Saturday 6/1. Paving is complete, so come try out the new blacktop on some of the most exhilarating and easy-to-ride bikes out there!

Our two Energica bikes went on a magnificent ride yesterday!

140 miles from Robbinsville through all the good backroads, they made a stop at the Blue Ridge Parkway's highest point at 6,053ft elevation, then came back down the hill for a stop in Cherokee to refill the bikes(and the riders!)

Riding in sport mode, 140 miles used 90% of one bike's battery, and 95% of the other bike's battery. They each recharged to 70% in 30 minutes while the riders got lunch.

190 miles, 6 hours, 2 great bikes🤩

Results are in! Check out the Energica vs. Hayabusa video, and my time slips in chronological order below!

⚡️Best reaction time: 0.047s
⚡️Battery used: 4%, from 85% to 81%

If I started with 100% I may have done a bit better😳

In the 1.5 hours I was there, I noticed a few great things about electric motorcycles that I've never seen firsthand before:

1. It's way easier to achieve peak performance on an electric bike versus a gas bike due to the "twist and go" operation. It's very difficult to get peak performance out of a gas bike due to the clutch and gears requiring skill to master. A Hayabusa in a perfect race would do around 7 seconds flat. A perfect race on my bike would pretty much be the same as what I was able to do my first try.

2. The electric bike can run back to back all day long in the scorching heat without needing a break. Many of the gas bikes were having to sit in front of fans, turn their engines off any time they weren't moving, and take breaks between runs to let their engines cool down. With electric, none of that is a concern.

Loaded up and headed to drag race event at Knoxville Dragway's 1/8 mile strip to see how this monster performs! The ambitious goal is to break into the 6's, but I'm not sure if this rider is capable of that just yet! Bike is an Energica Eva Ribelle.

These bikes are touring machines! Today, our Zero SR/S and Energica SS9+ did this 170 mile trip, and guess what? The Energica didn't need to charge at all! The Zero plugged in for 10 minutes, but it also could've made the entire trip on one charge.

Beginning in Robbinsville, the route went through the GSMNP, over to the Foothills Parkway, then back around through the Tail of the Dragon.

Many riders have no idea these electric motorcycles can do this sort of riding easily. Here's the proof! Come experience it for yourself😏
