Before the crowds and the packed parking lots, Hocking Hills was one of Ohio's best-kept secrets. 🍃 Just the sound of water trickling over sandstone and the hush of the hemlock forest.
The gorges, the cliffs, the hidden waterfalls felt like they belonged to whoever was quiet enough to find them. You could wander the trails on a fall afternoon and hardly cross paths with another soul. The rock walls held the cool air, and the light came down through the leaves in soft gold.
It's still beautiful, of course, but those who knew it in the quieter years remember a different kind of peace. The landscape has a way of staying with you.
Do you remember visiting Hocking Hills before it got so busy?
