Well this is exciting!!!!
Ohio's First Mountain Coaster Coming to Hocking Hills, Set to Open in 2027
A major new attraction is headed to one of Ohio's most popular outdoor destinations.
Construction is expected to begin soon on Ohio's first-ever mountain coaster in Hocking Hills, adding a new adventure experience to a region already known for its waterfalls, hiking trails, and scenic overlooks. The attraction is expected to welcome its first riders in 2027.
Unlike a traditional roller coaster, mountain coasters are gravity-powered rides built into the natural terrain. Riders travel downhill in individual cars while controlling their own speed with hand brakes, allowing for either a leisurely scenic ride or a faster thrill-filled descent.
Plans call for more than 3,600 feet of track, with the ride lasting approximately five minutes and reaching speeds of up to 26 mph.
Mountain coasters have become a staple attraction in destinations like Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where they have proven to be popular with families and thrill-seekers alike. Bringing the concept to Hocking Hills marks another step in the region's continued growth as one of the Midwest's premier outdoor tourism destinations.
Hocking Hills already attracts millions of visitors each year for destinations such as Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, Cedar Falls, and Conkle's Hollow. The addition of a mountain coaster gives visitors another reason to extend their stay beyond the area's hiking trails and natural attractions.
While an exact opening date has not yet been announced, construction is expected to begin in the near future, with the attraction targeting a 2027 opening.
