Come stay at Hotel Rose and then go grab your furry friend a small gift!

What started as a retail shop for dogs, has also become a really great and safe place for dogs to get groomed! The idea behind it was to create a space that got rid of the stigma of the dog grooming experience. The people at Fido & Stitch want to make sure that dogs have a calm experience and they do that by making sure there are groomers who can work with all different types of dogs, and by making sure that your furry friend is with the same person the whole time!

What makes this place so special for dogs is that it is all inclusive! They will bathe, blow dry, cut hair, and take care of paws and nails. With there being a retail space as well, there is also the perfect opportunity to buy treats, toys, and accessories!

Fido & Stitch has been open for 10+ years, with the downtown Rockford location being open for 4 years! Ashley, the general manager, has loved being a part of the team and has been able to show her passion for animals. She has also enjoyed downtown Rockford and how involved everyone is and the family-oriented atmosphere.

This weekend is going to be a good one!

Char + Barrel will also be hosting the Colonel E. H. Taylor Barbecue dinner, so the patio will be closed on Friday evening. The restaurant will be open starting at 12pm though on Friday and Saturday!

While you are staying at Hotel Rose, make sure you check out Ila & Lucille! This cute clothing boutique offers clothing styles for teens to older adults and is owned by sister duo Rebecca and Deana. Named after their grandmothers, they started this business 6 years ago! With a love for shopping, they decided it would be really fun to run their own place. They also offer permanent jewelry regularly!

A couple of things that Rebecca and Deana love about being business owners in downtown Rockford is being able to employ people who are in different places in their lives and connecting with customers!

Get settled into your room at Hotel Rose and then make the short walk to Kawa Sushi!

This restaurant has been open for 4 years and it's not hard to see why! They serve Las Vegas style sushi with Midwest hospitality. The owner, Bobby, values quality and freshness with made from scratch dishes. The passion behind this restaurant comes from his time in culinary school, where he focused on mastering traditional Japanese cuisine while embracing its authentic techniques. He then set out to blend that foundation with the vibrant, high-energy culture of Las Vegas!

Bobby has enjoyed being a business owner in downtown Rockford, making note that it is a very special place with a supportive community!

Feature Friday: Nera Wix + Soaring Suds 🕯️🧼

During your next stay at Hotel Rose, schedule a fun activity and make something you can take home at Nera Wix + Soaring Suds! This unique shop offers bath essentials like soap bars, bath bombs, and shampoo & conditioner bars. There is also the opportunity to make your own candle! This includes picking a vessel, your own scents, and extra toppings to truly make the candle your own.

Owners Mike and Jen started this amazing experience, so people had something really fun and unique to do! This is a family-owned business that opened in their current location in October but was in another store for a year prior. They offer super fun events about once a month and during the school year, would host Wax and Snacks for students getting out early on Early Release Days!

A couple of things that Mike and Jen love about owning a business in downtown Rockford, is the community and being able to partner with other businesses! They enjoy being active members in the community of Rockford.
