Tomorrow is the big day... we officially open for guests!

It's been just over two months since we took ownership of the hotel, and a very WILD two months it's been. We've undertaken every kind of work imaginable - masonry, electrical, windows, plumbing, fuel oil.

We've gotten all new linens and towels, updated some art and furniture, cleaned everything from top to bottom (multiple times), and set up a small mercantile.

And in the midst of all of that, on the personal front, we moved into our new living space here at the hotel, shepherded our 8 year old through the final months of school, and set up the business side of things (shout out to all the small business owners out there)!

All this to say, we are over the moon excited to start welcoming guests into the space we've poured our hearts, sweat and tears into over the last couple of months.

We can't wait to meet you!

Each of the rooms here at The Lindsey has its own unique personality and feel. Take Room 4, for example. It combines moody walls with soft eastern light, and has an old-school clawfoot tub. Normally it would not be advisable to have a tub of this weight in an 1835 wood-framed building, but it happens to sit over top of our concrete vault turned mercantile, so it's safely supported. Bathe away 🛀

What do you do with a historic vault?

Turn it into a mercantile, of course. 😉

We’re transforming our original first-floor vault into a spot for guests to pick up drinks, snacks, and travel essentials.

The details are still there: the heavy door and the combination dial, alongside newer features like the penny floor.

We hope you'll come by to check it out when we open in June!

One of our favorite pieces in the existing collection at The Lindsey. Not much is known about this exquisite painting done by DF Robertson in 1942, but we're honored it graces our walls. We like to think of her as the matriarch of The Lindsey, watching out for our guests, but also keeping a close eye on them to ensure proper manners are maintained 😉

Hello there! We’re Brett, Megan and Emerson – the new owners of The Lindsey Hotel here in Rockland, Maine. We think it might just be one of the best little corners of the world, but we’re a tad bit partial.

To embark on this wild adventure of owning an inn, we left the jobs we knew to try our hand at something we’d never done before. After traveling extensively together as a family, we learned the value of true hospitality – the kind you feel when a stranger invites you for dinner – and wanted to share that with others.

As we get The Lindsey ready to welcome you, we’re deep in the process of learning all the amazing quirks and sounds of a building constructed in 1835 – radiators with steam heat, brick and plaster walls, wide plank wood floors, and countless light switches that don’t seem to control anything.

And this old girl has needed a little love to keep her in tip-top shape. That's why, if you’re in the area, you’ll see some scaffolding around the building and brick work being done on the exterior. The building has been here for generations, and we want to make sure she’s around for many more.

We are honored to be the new caretakers of this amazing space, and we cannot wait to welcome returning and new guests this year! To ensure we get all the work done to the exterior prior to any stays, we are currently slated to open in June (because no one likes an unsolicited 7am wake-up call).

Our booking is open on our new website at www.thelindseyhotel.com.

Feel free to get in touch with any questions you may have, or even just to say hello. We are so excited to meet you!
