There's a kind of trip Rockport was made for: drive in late afternoon, drop the bay boat at the ramp, fish the evening tide, and roll back to the house with a cooler full of reds.

That's what Stars on the Bay is set up for — wide driveway with power and water for the boat (hose it down right there, no tracking salt past the master), three full baths including a lower-level rinse-off bath, an east-facing balcony for the coffee-with-the-sunrise crowd, and beds for six.

Reds and trout are firing in the bay. Spring migrants are still moving through at Goose Island. The Big Tree is a fifteen-minute drive up Highway 35. We've still got nights open on the May / June calendar and they're going quick.

Somebody caught breakfast before we did. One of the things we love about this stretch of beach — it's quiet enough that you actually notice stuff like this.

Seagulls, sandpipers, the occasional dolphin pod a hundred yards out. Come slow down with us.

Rockport's putting on a show right now. Right down the road from the front door to this. Pour something cold, find a bench, watch the sky do its thing.

The house itself sits on a quiet block close to downtown — two stories, 3 bedrooms, sleeps 6, full kitchen, room to spread out. Walk into downtown for dinner. Walk over to the bay for a sunrise like this one. Walk home and crash.
