Mamaw’s Coastal Hideaway RV Park in Rockport, Texas.. Mamaw, OUR Grandma, and Great Grandma was a family icon. From that point forward, they came down every year and never stopped.

Located down the road from Kayak Launch, 1 mile from City Limits, close proximity to everything... We provide pad sites for all RV sizes, full hook ups available - 5 acres with a pond: AT WILL, MONTHLY AGREEMENTS ONLY She was a Flatlander from West Texas, generational cotton farmer, and lived well into her 90s. A very long time ago, when going on vacation meant taking the long road in an old car,

they ventured down from the Panhandle, to the Texas Coast for vacation. As Flatlanders, they didn’t get to see large bodies of water, and fishing almost always meant seining a small creek. When they made it to the Texas Coast, it was a very big deal to them, and they fell in love with everything about it. Of course, that enthusiasm for the “Beach!” was handed down to the next generation, and so on. I had many late nights with her under the lights, arguing over who hung the other one up… and she had a habit of screaming for the NET no matter what size the fish was.. However, we did catch our share of nice fish together. It was all about the good eats, stuffed flounder and fried trout were her favorites. As she got older, we all got older, and I ended up with my own family. We were extremely fortunate to carry on the fishing and beach tradition, and actually had several good years bringing her along. Her last great fishing was with us, just down the road from this RV Park, at Miss Kittys. If she were still with us, I bet you she’d have a hook in the water right now. She’d want all of you to share her love for the Coast. It’s a place of freedom, childhood memories, the smell shrimp and hot grease, calling seagulls and wind in your hair. ENJOY THE SALT LIFE

Stretching across wind‑swept grasslands, the Tatton Unit reminds us why prairies are among the most vital and imperiled landscapes in North America. 🌾

Donated in the late 1960s specifically to protect and enhance wildlife habitat, this unit remains a stronghold for species that depend on healthy prairie ecosystems—including those once tied to the historic range of the Attwater’s prairie‑chicken.

Prairies like those at Tatton naturally support rich plant and animal diversity, store carbon, filter water, and provide space for migratory birds to rest and refuel. On National Prairie Day, we celebrate these resilient landscapes and honor the refuge’s ongoing work to conserve them for future generations.
