Poppy’s Paradise - Green Lights Saga

Underwater green lights are a huge hit with guests, and for good reason. They attract lots of fish, turn the dock into a mini aquarium, and really do help with the fishing (though mostly from late October to February once the pesky hardheads have moved out of the canals to deeper water).

The downside? They can be a real pain. Constant GFCI trips, leaks in the bulbs or bulb housing, and constant maintenance. And when they go out, no one is happy (especially not me).

So I have a new plan. While I intend to keep underwater green lights, I’m going to give these above-water spot lights a chance. I’m going to place one on each end of the canal and then place the underwater green lights in the middle to provide lights across the span of the dock. Even if the underwater light goes out, the above-water lights should be good (in theory).

I’m going to install the spotlights during the next gap between guests (time permitting). Let’s see how they work out!

Poppy’s Paradise - Guided Fishing Trip - Part 1

Had an awesome time on the water last Wednesday morning with Captain James Hinton. Water was a little muddy because of recent storms and the reds have been picky eaters the last couple of weeks, but we left with trout, redfish, and black drum!

Captain Hinton is definitely on my preferred guide list for guests at Poppy’s Paradise. Looking to add some more qualified captains to the guide roster this summer too.

We had to rebuild the Airbnb account from scratch due to some ownership technicalities and the renaming/rebranding of the property, but it’s moving in the right direction. 🫡
