Once upon a time, in the quiet moments of an ordinary day, you’ll meet a dog that changes your life. Not in the grand, dramatic ways that make for stories of heroism or legend, but in the gentle, profound ways that reshape your soul. This dog, with eyes that seem to carry the wisdom of a thousand years and a tail that wags with the joy of a carefree pup, will teach you things you never knew you didn’t know. Lessons in patience, in forgiveness, and in the art of living simply for the now.

You’ll find companionship in the soft press of a warm muzzle against your hand, a reminder that love can be as simple as a shared breath, a morning walk, or a silent understanding. In this dog’s quiet presence, you’ll learn that joy doesn’t have to be loud; it can be found in the rustle of leaves underfoot, the rhythm of paws on pavement, or the way sunlight filters through the trees, catching in the fur of your loyal friend.

This dog will show you what you didn’t know you needed: the kind of unconditional love that comes without strings, expectations, or demands. You’ll realise that all those busy, frantic moments spent chasing something elusive were nothing compared to the stillness of sitting side by side, hearts beating in unison, content in the sheer act of being.

Through the eyes of this dog, you’ll see the world anew. The little things—a slow sunrise, a gentle breeze, a quiet moment—will become the big things. And in these moments, you’ll come to understand that sometimes, what you needed most wasn’t a grand adventure or a distant dream, but a friend who meets you exactly where you are, teaching you to be better, to be kinder, and to love without reservation.

This dog, without saying a single word, will help you find parts of yourself that you didn’t even know were lost. And long after their time with you has passed, the lessons will remain, etched into the fabric of your life, a testament to a bond that, though simple, was everything you needed and more.

HUSKY HAVEN CAMPGROUND MEMORIAL TREE
THRU THE YEARS OF OPERATING HUSKY HAVEN CAMPGROUND LOCATED ON THE GAP TRAIL, WE HAVE HAD MANY PEOPLE PASS THRU OR STAY AT OUR CAMPGROUND OR IN OUR GUESTHOUSE. WE ENJOYED SEEING THEM ALL, AS WELL AS THE LOCALS THAT TRAVEL THE GAP TRAIL OR ENJOY WALKING THRU THE CAMPGROUND AREA.
FOR ANYONE WISHING TO HONOR SOMEONE, WE HAVE DESIGNATED A “MEMORIAL TREE” ON OUR PROPERTY WHERE HUSKY HAVEN CAMPGROUND WAS. IT’S A BLUE SPRUCE TREE LOCATED CLOSE TO THE GAP TRAIL SO YOU CAN EASILY FIND IT.
WHETHER YOU WANT TO HONOR A FAMILY MEMBER, FRIEND, SOMEONE YOU ENJOYED THE GAP TRAIL WITH OR A BELOVED PET, FEEL FREE TO STOP AND HANG A MEMORIAL ITEM ON THE TREE. (You did not need to stay at Husky Haven to do this). PLEASE MAKE SURE THEY WILL HOLD UP IN ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS (RAIN, SNOW, WIND, SUN), AND CAN BE HUNG ON A LIMB SECURELY SO AS NOT TO BLOW AWAY. PLEASE NOTHING THAT MAY BREAK OR SHATTER.
IF YOU ARE JUST PASSING THRU OR LIVE LOCALLY, FEEL FREE TO FILL THE TREE WITH YOUR LOVE.

PLEASE SHARE THIS!!

It comes with many mixed feelings: sadness, happiness, and much gratitude and appreciation that we have decided to permanently close Husky Haven Campground and Guesthouse at the close of this season, October 31, 2022. The journey there started 23 years ago when we purchased the land along the Great Alleghany Passage hiking and biking trail, clearing a much overcrowded woodlands making paths to mush our Siberian Huskies, hence the name Husky Haven Campground. As our team retired from mushing and officially became “couch huskies”, we opened the land and guesthouse to people biking and hiking on the GAP trail, as well as many locals that just liked to come camp, opening in 2007. It has been a fantastic journey we have been on being able to meet and speak with thousands and thousands of people from all over the United States and all over the globe. Wonderful people that enjoy the beautiful outdoors and always loved meeting our dogs. We are forever thankful to all that have supported and helped us through this journey, many of you that have continued to come back time and time again…..We are truly going to miss providing this service to so many great people. We wish everyone the very best and hope you continue to enjoy the outdoors and the Great Alleghany Passage.

COVID-19 UPDATE OCTOBER 28, 2020:

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the campers and guests at our guesthouse that supported us this past year in such trying times and taking appropriate precautions.

Because of the surge in COVID-19 cases again, unlike past years, along with the campground we will also be closing the guesthouse as of October 31 instead of it remaining open for bookings throughout the winter months.

Wishing all a blessed end of year and a much better 2021!!💚

COVID-19 UPDATE June 23, 2020
We are very happy to see people getting out and enjoying the outdoors again. These past few months have been a very trying time for everyone. Obviously we have no control over what anyone does in their personal life. But that being said, if the campground and guesthouse are to continue to stay open and give people a place to go, we are asking you to please wear a mask when in our presence. WE DO NOT WISH TO CLOSE THE CAMPGROUND AND GUESTHOUSE DOWN AGAIN, PLEASE DO YOUR SMALL PART IN THIS. MUCH APPRECIATED.
