It been a few weeks since I have cooked for a group so thank you Papertown Ag for staying with us. First meal burgers and brats! Breakfast in the morning then Fish fry tomorrow night. Good times by all!!

Report on my Day 3 of my northern getaway. All reports were saying the yellow perch were hard to find but we got them this morning. 75 by 11 AM then went back to catching 9”—10” bluegills. We are over 350 fish cleaned which is 8 gallons of fish in 3 days!! Best is weather hasn’t been over 80 degrees! Gods Country!!

I decided to get out of the heat and take a spur of the moment fishing trip. I drove 400 miles until I hit 70 degree weather and ended up in NW Iowa. My brothers Dean and Danny meet me and we are having a blast.

What a fun weekend with the USS Vandagrift FFG-48 2nd reunion. These squids put up the Sportsman pole and flag 2 years ago and returned and replace it this weekend. Such a fun time with these guys! I had the pleasure to spend 7 days on their ship back in 1994 on a trip from Pearl Harbor up to San Diego and these guys haven’t change a bit!!

24 blues and 3 channels in 3 days on a 15 hook set line. 8 gallons of fish so not a bad run!! All caught on live bluegills.

I am supplying all the fish for the Amvets bluegill fishing tournament fish fry so decided to put out a set line next to my house last night. Had a blue on half my hooks this morning!! Not a bad start!
