Located just across the river from Astoria, Oregon, Rose Creek Retreat is the Lower Columbia's newest outdoor destination. Nestled between two riverine ghost towns, this natural oasis was crafted from former logging lands into a private eco-retreat. It's a unique and impressively photogenic gem featuring wildlife, serenity and meditative beauty. Rose Creek is a mix of boutique camping, wildlife sa
nctuary, and edible agro-forestry restoration project. Here you can watch eagles hunt while ships float by, enveloped by the scents of heirloom roses, after picking berries in the afternoon sun. Or take a walk along the stream at dusk, perhaps the owls will be about! There are no RVs or large campers; you'll have no immediate neighbors, as we only rent each of our secluded sites to one camping party. When renting one of our campsites, you're renting your own private nature park. We offer three campsites-
1) The Rose Garden on the Columbia, featuring over thirty varieties of tea roses, along with a beautifully restored babbling stream to soothe the senses. Outstanding views of the Columbia, with sunsets that will amaze and inspire. Our best birding site, watch eagles fly through the mists from perches along the crags and firs! Beginning Spring 2017, in addition to the tent camping option, we'll be offering rental of our Rose Creek Hut, a rustic simple cabin getaway. Note: This is our only site with permitted wood campfires.
2) The Creekside Gardens, featuring wooded solitude in a restored forest. Hundreds of native roses and shrubs have been planted along Rose Creek here, creating a wonderfully serene environment of lush green and quiet. Features multiple tent sites, including a bed of moss, a stream side site and another under ancient trees, overlooking the Columbia River.
3) Our most secluded, the Orchid Garden is nestled among the maples and huckleberries for total privacy. It features a hand-built wikiup, terrariums and huckleberry trails. Our retreat and the surrounding area are frequently visited by birds and mammals of many varieties, including bald eagles (mature and juvenile), ravens, cormorants, owls, pelicans, herons, turkey vultures, ducks, geese and loons. Located just over thirty minutes from the restaurants, breweries and cannabis shops of Astoria! Many local opportunities for recreating, including kayaking, biking and hiking. Primitive camping available only. All supplies must be brought in by guests. Outhouse provided. Contact for appointment.
