Introducing: The Red Rose Book Club

We’re just a bunch of Red Rose regulars trying to read more fiction. Our book club has no long meetings, no belabored discussions, no pressure, no bad coffee and definitely no bad beer or wine. But we do have a few rules …

1/ The book must be fiction

2/ The book has to be a selection that none of us has read before

3/ The book has to be purchased from our local bookstore and Roscoe treasure,
(No Amazon allowed!)

4/ The book has to be the hardcover edition. We have no idea why we have this rule. We do admit this rule is “flexible.”

5/ Sorry, no Audible. Have you tried doing an Audible version of Thomas Pynchon?

How it works:
We present 3-5 books culled from a list of sources and suggestions to our Director of Entertainment, Colin . He then chooses the one book that the club will read. This selection is final and there are no appeals to better judgment or taste.

To join, just order from and come over to the Rose for a drink or dinner and tell us your thoughts on what you’re reading. Just be careful not to shout out any spoilers. We also have a few books that we’ve read behind the bar, so feel free to come in and borrow one!

Our list so far:

The Crying of Lot 49 — by Thomas Pynchon

The Bee Sting, — by Paul Murray

Beloved — by Toni Morrison
