There is something about gazing into the expanse of the Gulf waters.

These guys are not easy to film.

Their little heads appear and bob away in the water.

Turtles can sense you from a distance and disappear in a split second.

Some times they come onto the bank where we can get a sighting.

Driving around Rotunda one's got to watch out for these guys.

On one occasion, one was crossing the road. I stopped the car and picked him up to take him to the other side in safety.

As I drove off, I saw him turn around and go back again!

The circular areas on the waters bottom are I believe, where the males create a shallow circular nest in the sand to lure their mates back to. These we see at breeding times from our dock.

When we bought Heron’s Rest in 2007 there were two old wooden rocking chairs on the front porch.

We had to replace them, as the Florida weather took its toll.

These are dedicated to the two men who were our fathers and our families grandfathers.
