It was the spring of 1967 (56 YEARS AGO!) that the Maassmann family made the move to beautiful Round Top, NY and began our amazing life journey as the new owners of Blackhead Mountain Lodge! What an amazing journey it has been!
With mixed emotions, the time has come to pass the torch. Although changes are inevitable, we are beyond excited to see what this beautiful piece of property has in store for its future. Over the past year we have spent countless hours with the new ownership partners, and we have come to know that they are wonderful gentlemen with great visions. They are in love with our land and its history, and we cannot wait to see what happens next at Blackhead Mtn. It will definitely be amazing!
Bittersweet. "A blend of emotions that are sweet but also tinged with sadness".
There is obvious sadness in the fact that we will not be able to be your hosts and spend time with all of you that have truly become so much more than just guests. We will miss all of you and the everyday life at Blackhead, but nothing can take away all the wonderful memories that you have given us over the years. Those memories bring us all so much joy and happiness and they will stay with us forever!
Hospitality. "The friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors or strangers".
This is what we have strived for for the past 56 years, to provide the most amazing hospitality to every single one of our guests. Our hope as this journey comes to an end, is that we have been able to become a small part of all of your lives and that we have been able to bring you some joy and happiness during your visits to Blackhead Mtn. To know that you all will look back and have fond memories that you will cherish and share means the world to us! It is why we did what we did.
The funny part is, as we have been dedicating ourselves to bringing joy into the lives of our guests, we have been the ones that have most likely received the most joy of all. And that is because of YOU!
Every single one of you that has ever visited Blackhead Mtn, whether just once for dinner or a round of golf, or have been vacationing with us for the past 56 years, have brought that joy to us. The joy of meeting new and old friends and doing whatever we could to bring happiness into other people's lives during their time with us.It is because of you that our family business was successful and we were able to stay together for so many years! FIVE family generations were able to work together on a daily basis for the past 56 years because we all had the same goal - keep our guests and friends happy, and keep our family together. Blackhead Mtn became our "lives" and not our jobs and therefore we never "went to work". When you visited with us, we were just living our lives and you became a part of it. So, thank you for all you have done for us!
This would turn into a lengthy novel if we began to try to thank and recognize everyone that has impacted us, so when we say "thank you", we mean all of you!
Our wonderful staff over all of the years - you became family and were all an extension of us to our guests. It would never have lasted this long without the amazing people that we have surrounded ourselves with!
Our fellow local businesses - we worked together for the good of all. Whether sharing overflow guests or helping each other out when running short on supplies, we always had each other's backs and our appreciation for you is endless.
Most importantly = Our guests - Whether hotel, golf or dinner, you all were the driving force behind why we did what we did. You became so much more than guests, you truly became part of our family. We are fortunate that we now live in a world where staying in touch is so very easy, and that brings us comfort in knowing that this isn't a goodbye message.
